Biology 1 Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity


1st Quarter / SY 2012-2013

Biology 1 is a two-unit introductory course that meets daily and is offered to second year students. The subject
tackles concepts in Ecology, Evolution, and the Diversity of Organisms, and incorporates Biology as a discipline, the
scientific method, and various life sciences that can be encountered along the way. The defining characteristics and
life cycles of bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals are given emphasis to, always with respect to evolution,
their suitability to their niche, and their role in the biosphere.
