Sirius II 8-Way Sounder Output Board

Part No 44782-K173

The Sirius II 8-Way Sounder Output Board provides eight alarm circuits, each rated at
250 mA. It can be operated by either a Sirius II control panel or by any other conventional
fire alarm panels alarm circuit output. Up to seven boards can be linked via the Sirius II
panel RS485 link. If the board is the last board on the RS485 link, LK1 must be closed.

The 8-Way Sounder Output Board can be installed on the four mounting points in the
Sirius II panel or remotely in a suitable enclosure.

If the 8-Way Sounder Output Board is to be operated by the Sirius II panel, DIP Switch 6
on SW 1, BOARD CONFIG (see Figure 1) should be in the ON position. There are four
connections required between the Sirius II panel and the board and these should be
made in the following order: INPUT / OUTPUT A from the control panel connects to
INPUT / OUTPUT A on the Alarm Sounder Board and INPUT / OUTPUT B on the control
panel connects to INPUT / OUTPUT B on the Alarm Sounder Board. The 28V power
supply to the board can be taken from the AUX 28V/0V output on the Sirius II panel or
another suitable power supply source. The 28V supply must be able to provide the
current required for all of the boards alarm circuits.

If the 8-Way Sounder Output Board is to be connected to another manufacturers control

panel*, DIP Swtich 6 on SW1, BOARD CONFIG (see Figure 1) should be in the OFF
position. A suitable End Of Line (EOL) resistor must be fitted to ALARM INPUT (+OUT)
and (-). The existing alarm circuits positive output connects to ALARM INPUT (+IN) and
the existing alarm circuits negative output connects to the ALARM INPUT (-). An external
+28 V supply must be connected to the boards EXT SUP 28V/0V input and this must be
able to provide the current required for all of the boards alarm circuits. 4K7 end of line
resistors must be fitted to the last sounder on each alarm circuit and to the alarm terminals
on the board for each alarm circuit that is not being used.

Note: Activation of an existing alarm circuit will activate ALL alarm outputs in a common mode.

The alarm circuits modes of operation are set in accordance with Table 1.
Note: the required setting must made before connecting the +28V supply.

For each alarm circuit, the corresponding LED lights red when the alarm circuit is
active and yellow if there is a fault on the alarm circuit.

The GENERAL FAULT light comes on if there is an alarm fault, micro-processor fault
or RS485 communications fault.

The Alarm Sounder Board also provides a voltage-free change-over output which is fail
safe (active when no power is connected to the board) and this operates on any board
fault condition. If the Alarm Sounder Board has a micro-processor fault condition, operate
switch 7 on SW1 to clear the fault.

Switch 8 on SW1 is not used.
