The speaker is effective in achieving his purpose of inspiring his audience through the use of

emotion striking material. This is shown through his statements such as Its easy to put people
in boxes (Leth, 0:00-0:05). The speaker uses boxes to symbolize humans judgement and
stereotypical attitudes towards other groups of people. This judgement often causes division
among people. The use of this symbolism makes it relatable to the audience, making them feel
involved and intrigued for what is to come. Secondly through this statement the speaker uses
the words its easy to emphasize the fact that most humans are capable of forgetting their
morals and judging and putting people in boxes. Another statement the speaker uses in order
to inspire his audience is And then suddenly theres us, We who believe in life after death, We
who have seen UFOs, and all of us who love to dance (Leth, 1:26-1:37). The speaker uses the
concept of time passing through his word choice of suddenly. This word emphasizes the fact
that time is precious and humans need to understand that there is no time to be stereotypical
towards others. This is impactful because every single person is a victim of judging another.
Secondly through this statement the speaker ties up the theme of relationships are detrimental
in life, and relationships are not possible until human beings accept each other. This is an
emotion provoking statement because it lets the audiences minds take in the fact that we are all
human, which is one thing we ALL have in common. Therefore, Asger Leth is effective in
achieving his purpose of inspiring his audience through the use of his emotional striking
material. (On a scale of 1-5 of effectiveness I would score the speaker a 5)
