Mexican. All of my gpas are from Mexico, except my maternal grandfather. He is from

The beauty of having so many different cultures in the world (lifestyles and ways of speaking) can
add variety to our lives
Such cultural variation can make life more interesting and exciting, but also cause difficulty when
trying to make sense of those behaviors and communication

Intercultural communication: Involves interaction between people whose cultural


percepction and symbol systems are different. An interaction between two or more groups
of people who are different from culture and background leading to different beliefs and
viewpoints which can impact the outcome of the intended message
Dominant Culture: Quienes estn en control, determinan como actuar y qu hacer. The
people in power in that regin. The group of people who was the most control over how the
culture carries out its bussiness. It possesses the power that allows it to speak for the entire
culture. The power is not necessarily found in numbers, but not in control.
Co-cultures: Siguen las reglas de la cultura dominante. Within the dominant culture, we
can find numerous co-cultures. These are homogenous groups that is not in power but that
share sufficient communication characteristics, perceptions, values, beliefs and practices
that are sufficiently different to distinguish them from other groups and communicates and
from the dominant culture.
Communication: The process which symbols are transmitted for the porpoise of eliciting a
response. Our ability to share our beliefs, values, ideas and feelings. While the results
produced when sending messages might be different, the reasons people communicate tend
to be the same. Is a dynamic process where people persuade other people and exchange
ideas, traditions and opinions. Depends on the context and has a consequence based on
words, moments, attitudes
Functions of communications: Gathering info from other people, helps fulfill
interpersonal needs, establishes personal identities and influences others. It is the basis or
the heart of human contact
