Racial Profiling between Middle Eastern Ethnic Groups

In todays society Middle Eastern ethnic groups are seen as terrorist. Society has made

everyone see them as people who do not belong. The people who do the racial profiling only do

it because they are scared of the past. Due to the past of terrorist attacks that have happened to be

from the Middle Eastern group they think that they are all the same. Although a big percentage of

terrorist attacks on the U.S. have been Middle Eastern that doesnt mean they all have the same

mind set. In reality they are just like anyone of us. They deal with the same responsibilities as us

and face the same problems. Just because they might be different that doesnt mean that they are

bad people.

Middle easterners have been looked at differently for a while, but after the incident that

took place in September 9, 2001 they were automatically look at as terrorist. After the attack

there was an immediate lack of trust between both groups. People would begin to heavily

discriminate the middle easterners based on their looks. The president at the time George W.

Bush visited the Islamic center of Washington, DC because of the amount of discrimination they

were receiving he tried to show that the ethnic group wasnt responsible for the event. Since the

racial profiling was bad a resolution was passed by congress condemning violence against the

Middle Easterners.

Many people believed that by getting rid of the Middle Easterners we would have a safer

country. The people who were against the ethnic group thought that by getting rid of them they

would eliminate chances of terrorist attacks. Having middle easterners made people feel unsafe

and at risk which is why many people wanted them out. People would show signs of hate and

aggression to try to get them to leave. They would be suspicious when the ethnic group would

wear their religious clothing because it would cover their face. Many thought of them as a group

of hate and danger. After the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 there was a 1,700 percent

increase of hate crime against Muslim Americans between 2001- 2002. Middle easterners were

surrounded by stereotypes and negative attitudes.

Middle Eastern children have to face many difficulties in their life as well. In school they

are bullied for their beliefs and their appearance. They are raised thinking that they are not

normal and who they are isnt a good thing. Many of them are scared to be who they are because

they fear being humiliated by the other children and not being accepted for who they truly are.

Children see whats happening in the world and they happen to see negative things, and they use

the negative things against one another to make themselves who they are not.

Although a wide percentage of terrorist attacks have been Middle Eastern it doesnt show

who they truly are. Studies show that over 450 of 452 suicide attacks were by Muslim extremist.

Hearing this information does make you think if they are really trust worthy or not. Having this

information many people start to think if they are peaceful people or are they terrorist.

Despite all of the racial profiling that the middle easterners receive they are not what they

stereo types say. Just because they wear a head hijab that doesnt mean that they are terrorist. The

action of other people does not define who they are. They are each their own individual person

who is completely different. They do not deserve to be racially discriminated because if what

they look like that doesnt mean anything. They could be any one they want to be, it is all their

choice and they are free to decide and to be whoever they want to be. Many Middle Easterners

are being affected because of the amount of discrimination they are receiving. They are feeling

unwanted in their own homes. They have the thoughts of how people see them and how they

think of them as terrorist. It is really unfair they go through this.

Racial profiling between the Middle Eastern ethic groups has been around for a while and

it is not okay. It has destroyed many communities and it takes from the Middle Easterners. There

is a big percentage of terrorist attacks in America from middle easterners but that doesnt mean

that we should violate their rights by discriminating them. There is many middle easterners who

have made a big impact in the world. One of those amazing people is Malala Yousafzai, she is a
Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate. There is many great

leaders who are Middle Eastern. They shouldnt get discriminated because of who they are.
