Young Man
Goes to Prison
for Murdering
his Father

Early on the morning of
April the 19th the court
convened to try Dale
Reynolds for murdering
his father.
Reynolds claimed that
he was acting in self-
defense when he shot and
killed his father with two
gunshot wounds to the
head. Reynolds was abused
by his father and felt he
was in danger when he
decided to shoot his father.
Nickie Loo, a detective
at the Olympia police
department, was the first
one on the scene of the
crime. He states that he
found the body lying on
the doorstep leading into
the house and found
Reynolds sitting on the
couch inside.
Prosecuting lawyer
Weston Smith pointed out
the fact that Reynolds
father had never gotten the
chance to step into the
house and that Reynolds
shot the first chance he got.
Reynolds said that when
his father entered the home
he could smell alcohol and
his father had said multiple
times that he was going to
kill Reynolds on many
occasions. Weston said
again that Reynolds father
didnt have time to say
anything upon entering the
house and did not get a
chance to say anything.
Reynolds said He didnt Reynolds is guilty of first
need another chance
Jan Martinez, who was
in a relationship with
Reynolds stated that he
was very moody almost
depressed. Martinez says
that Reynolds told him that
he had a shotgun and was
going to shoot his father.
Dr. Pat Carrol was
called to the stand in the
defense of Reynolds.
Carrol has a PHD in
psychology and said that
Reynolds did indeed suffer
from battered child
syndrome which was
caused by his father
abusing him multiple
times.
After the long trial the
mood in the court was
surprisingly positive
despite the serious nature
of the trial. The trial had
gone very smoothly with
no incidents at all.
For the closing
arguments the prosecuting
lawyer stated that
degree murder and that he
stole the weapons to shoot
and kill his father. The
Defense lawyer stated that
the weapon was originally
only to be used to
intimidate Reynolds father
only to be used if
absolutely necessary.
After hearing these
closing remarks the Jury
stepped out of the room to
decide the fate of Dale
Reynolds. The atmosphere
in the room was tense as
people waited for the jurys
verdict. A while later the
jury stepped back in
announcing that they had
found Dale Reynolds
