CHARACTER ANALYSIS

Albus Serverus Potter is the son of Harry Potter, but that doesnt mean his

existence wasnt so complicated. He has his fathers black and unruly hair, and his

eyes from lily, Harrys mother that died in the first book. In many ways, he is the

star and hero of this story, even though he often screws everything up. He is not

good at casting spells, he sucks at quittich, and he cant even fly a broomstick. He

can be glum, resentful and bitter, mostly because he has a lot of issues with his

old man. Harry didnt have a dad, so he doesnt know how to be a good dad, and

he was so focused on his past, he didnt see his own son as he was. I know what

it is to be a spare. Because of this, Albus thinks that he isnt loved by his own

dad, that he was a spare, an extra child. His namesakes were two people Harry

looked up to; Severus Snape and Albus Dumbledore, both of them were flawed.

They believed in just leaving hints and little details, hoping that they can figure it

out, which is not good dad material. Albus also has seriously big shoes to fill. He

was the son of the Boy Who Lived, but befriended Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy,

stinks at magic, and is housed in Slytherin. A random student named Polly

Chapman called him Albus Potter, the Slytherin squib. The mere fact that he is

a Potter doesnt help. In fact, it makes Al feel more like an outcast. Another

student even said Even portraits turn the other way when he comes up the stairs.

On the bright side though, he does have some courage, just like his father. Were

ready to put our lives at risk. He means it. However, he puts that courage into
completely ridiculous things like bringing Cedric Diggory back using a time-

turner. That resulted into the blackening of the world, the return of Voldemort, and

his own self destruction. Of course, things are fixed by his friend Scorpius, but he

still got in trouble for the whole mess he made. Punishments from Professor

McGonagall include detention for the rest of the year, Christmas cancelled, and

they cant go to Hogsmeade ever again. The lesson even your father sometimes

failed to heed is that bravery doesn't forgive stupidity. All things considered,

thats just what they deserve, especially Albus. He can be arrogant sometimes, as

he was arrogant enough to go back in time twice. He even says it. The stupid

thing wasnt going back once-anyone can make that mistake-the stupid thing was

being arrogant enough to go back twice. With a more positive turn, he changes as

the book progresses. He becomes more of a protagonist, saying funny comments

like Im not sure being fearless is going to be good for your health.

Furthermore, he get a little more wiser as he realizes his mistake and also in

thinking of a way to get a message to the present after being sent back to the day

of his grandparents deaths. Yet, Albus is also loaded with confusion in almost

everything imaginable. We arent sure about what his motives are for saving

Cedric, mostly because he isnt sure himself. It could be because he felt pity, or to

get closer to his father, or to just say how he can fix a mistake that Harry made.

There is no confirmation. What we can confirm is that Scorpius and Albus were

the very best of friends, even though there is a lot of bad blood between thief

families. Scorpius literally reset their mistakes in the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and

changed an entire timeline where he is popular because Albus was erased from
existence. Friendship is Albus weakness though, as he would be willing to help

Delphi return Voldemort as long as Scorpius lived. Thats actually something his

dad would do, as they both had the same weakness. In fact, they both are kind and

also have quite a temper they heed to keep under control. Albus says "I just wish

you weren't my dad.", while Harry says "Well, there are times I wish you weren't

my son." Harry regretted what he said, and that lead to the whole time travel

mess. Based on the information here, its more likely that rather than buying a #1

dad mug, Albus would take that mug and smash it over his dads head.
