Dear Booker T. Washington Elementary School Families:

Last evening the Capital School District Board of Education named Dr. Paige
Morgan the Principal of Booker T. Washington effective immediately. We are proud and
excited about Dr. Morgan continuing the work at BTW and that she was selected to
remain here. Dr. Morgan was a student at BTW, a seasoned teacher in the Capital School
District for many years, a reading teacher, an instructional coach, and recently served as
Acting Principal. She is truly honored and humbled to be a part of the BTW family.

The family here at BTW is amazing. We recognize that the work that Mr. Brown led
over the last 4 years will continue and want to publicly thank him for the groundwork he
built during his tenure in the Capital School District.

In addition to the announcement of BTW principal, other changes in administrative

assignments were announced yesterday. Capital School District has engaged much of the
community in its Strategic Planning Process over the last 2 years. As part of that process,
we are working to ensure we have opportunities for all of our staff members to learn and
grow. We also are being very reflective on how we can advance the district.

As part of that reflective process, some administrative changes were identified. We

believe that these changes will help everyone as we educate the whole child. Other
administrative changes in the district include: Mr. Charles Sheppard will be moving to
become the Principal of William Henry Middle School and Mr. Toriano Giddens will
become the Principal of Towne Point Elementary. At the associate principal level, Mrs.
Lurleen Lumpkin will be moving to Central Middle School and Mrs. Linda Daye will be
returning to William Henry Middle School. This is an opportunity for our leaders to
expand their skills and bring their knowledge and assets to a new portion of our
continuum of learning. Our leaders are excited about the challenges and opportunities
that await them in their new assignments and we are very excited about the new
leadership teams at our schools.

As we wrap up the school year, we remain focused on the jobs we have to do in our
buildings and plan to make the end of the school year a great and successful experience
for all of our students. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Morgan for her selection as
the Principal of Booker T. Washington Elementary. Best in the World and Getting Better!
