5. PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND i-To provide facility to sellers and buyer to take

i. Introduction of Livestock Pakistan is a rich agricultural country and

agriculture area. Its green lands are the big
source of human food and Livestock fodder
etc.
Livestock industry provides not only the
major food requirements of human use
protein, but also a back bone of national
income through hides, skins, milk, meat
and wool etc. To enhance these productions
the Livestock Department through its
Animal Health, Artificial insemination (
Breed improvement ) and poultry services
is doing a great job to increase the national
income. These services are being extended
to the general public by establishing the
Livestock and dairy farms, sheep and goat
farms , Poultry farms and al facilities under
the advice and supervision of the trained
staff of the veterinary institutions
established by the Government.
Livestock Department is rendering the
following services in District Layyah.
i. Veterinary coverage, which includes
the treatment of sick animals and
their protection from the
contagious diseases by the
prophylactic vaccination,
Department also provides the
protection against the Ecto and
Endo Parasites.
ii. Extension services, which includes
the farmers training in various
aspects of Livestock management,
feeding, breeding and animal
husbandry.
iii. Breed improvement of the
indigenous breads of the Cattle
and Buffaloes.
iv. Dairy, Sheep/ Goat and Poultry
farming advice with all possible
help.

1. Prophylactic vaccination against

2. Treatment to sick animals and
poultry.
3. Protection against Ecto and Endo
Parasites.
EXTENSION SERVICES
1. Farmers training in various aspects
of Livestock management, Feeding
and Animal Husbandry at the door
step of farmers.

establishing the Dairy, Sheep /
Goat and poultry Farms.
BREED IMPROVEMENT
Improvement of Cattle and Buffalo
breeds through Artificial Insemination.

6. Description, Justification, It is a model cattle market situated at
technical parameters and Layyah Chowk Azam Road, N/Side

Cattle Mandi in the province. For this
purpose, the District Layyah.has accepted
the challenge to establish the Model
Cattle Mandi in the city Layyah area.
The environment of District Layyah. Is
favorable for the breeding of Livestock .A
lot of Livestock has been sold in the
Cattle Mandi of District Layyah.on each
Saturday from the other adjoining
District i.e.Bakhar, Muzaffar Garh,D.G
khan,Multan etc. In order to streamline
the marketing of Livestock on modern
lines, the following facilities would be
provided to make successful Modern
Cattle Mandi in Layyah District:
