Introduction

This Diploma Paper is devoted to the topic Types of Conditional Sentences


in English, ways of translating them into Romanian in Jane Eyre by Charlotte
Bronte and Jane Eyre translated by Mirella Acsente.

The types of conditional sentences is an important topic in the English


Language which was studied by many authors like Dancygier, Diaconescu,
Ganshina, Iriskulov, Blokh and others.

The main aim of the work is to investigate the peculiarities of each type of
conditional sentence in English and Romanian which are expressed in Jane Eyre
by Charlotte Bronte and the ways of translating them into Romanian from Jane
Eyre Mirella Acsentes translation .

In order to achieve the main aim it is necessary to attain the following objectives:

1. To study the theoretical background of conditional sentences in English .

2. To select all examples of conditional sentences in English from Jane


Eyre by Charlette Bronte;

3. To select all the Romanian equivalents from Jane Eyre translated by


Mirella Ascente;

4. To analyze the English examples and organize them according to their


structure;

5. To study the ways of their translation into Romanian from the examples of
Jane Eyre in English and Romanian variant;

While writing this Diploma Paper the following research methods were
used: compact selection method, analysis method, classification method,
description method and comparison method.

1. The Compact selection method is used for the writing practical part
namely, when all the selected methods and strategies were collected and
described;

2. The Description method is used to describe the grammatical


peculiarities of conditional sentences from the examples in Jane Eyre ;

3. The Analysis method is used to analyze the examples selected from


Jane Eyre;
4. The Method of Classification is used to classify the examples of
conditional sentences by their peculiarities of usage.

5. The Comparison Method is used to compare English examples of


conditional sentences and their translation into Romanian.

The Diploma Paper consists of :

The Introduction gives the objectives, the methods and the object of the
research and the main sources of the research;

Chapter I which explains the definition of conditional sentences, their


characterization and classification;

Chapter II contains the analysis of the conditional sentences in Jane Eyre


by Charlotte Bronte and Jane Eyre translated by Mirella Acsente;

The Conclusion sums up the ideas discussed in the first chapter and
explains the analysis of conditional sentences in the second chapter;

The Bibliography contains the scientific and literary sources which help to
achieve the main objectives;

Appendix contains the examples selected from the Jane Eyre by


Charlotte Bronte and Jane Eyre translated by Mirella Acsente.

The main sources of the research are: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and Jane
Eyre translated by Mirella Acsente.
