Key Vocabulary from the Article (Define at least 4).

Radicalization- a process by which an individual or group comes to adopt
increasingly extreme political, social, or religious ideals and aspirations that
reject or undermine the status quo or undermine contemporary ideas and
expressions of freedom of choice.
Respite- a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or
unpleasant.
Marginal- of, relating to, or situated at the edge or margin or something.
Menacing- suggesting the presence of danger.

A. Four ordinary adults were taken into custody from their homes because the
French government believed they were plotting terrorists attacks. One was a
well-liked elementary school assistant, another was a hard working cargo
handler, and the third was a friendly grocer. These are people described as
friendly and hardworking but out of nowhere they're suddenly terrorists. The
government was applauding themselves because apparently these friendly and
hardworking people with no history of drugs or crime, were set to go into action
imminently. The government did not release the full names of these people but
did say that at least two tried getting into Syria.
B. The government ended up arresting many more people that also did not fit the
terrorist looks, but had a part in it. French authorities say that they have
uncovered 17 plots since the beginning of the year, and made 43 terrorism
arrests in November alone. They had searched one guys house, they found
many weapons and threats.
C. Everyone that knew these people talked about how good of a person they
were. The guy that bagged groceries, loved children. The first person they
arrested worked in an elementary school were children also loved him/her. They
were outgoing and participated in their community. They lived a life a terrorist
wouldn't.

Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).

My opinion is that this is something dangerous. These people didn't fit the ideal
terrorist persona. They were outgoing and friendly. This now makes the
government increase security and not have an ideal idea to what kind of person a
terrorist portrays. It would scare me to know that someone I put trust into all of a
sudden becomes a target for terrorism.

Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current
event).
I would relate this to the Boston Marathon bombing because it happened out of
nowhere. People that did not look suspicious at all planted this bomb and injured
only a few. This is like my current event because these people that were arrested
did not fit the personality of a terrorist, yet they were planning something very
dangerous.
