When

I was six, people were protesting in my country. It was the first time I was introduced
to politics because of my curiosity as a child. In my family, where my parents were both former
activists, my interested in society and politics was accumulated since I was young through our
conversation. Growing up observing the society I live in, I had realised that there are much more
issues than I had ever imagined. Nevertheless, there was not once has I lost faith in the possibility of
positive change. My faith becomes the motivation for me to seek out for the better solution, the
solution that not only solved the issue confronting but also able to create the better society. I
believe that it all starts from understanding various aspects of the society. And I along with that
thought I dont think that I could possibly understand the society I am living in without the
understanding of philosophy, politics or, economics; the three fields I have been passionate about.

As humanity developed, these three field have become more and more overlap. I have come
to this realization of this truth when I was doing my self-directed project on Political Philosophy in
grade 10. I have noticed that as humans started to gather up, besides from philosophy questions on
natural disasters, they began to question on how they should be governed. There are various ideas
on the ideal state, considering the leaders traits, source of authority, freedom of the citizens. And
on later philosophy on ideal state, human began to take economy in consideration, as government
not only responsible for governing but also distributing resources. This project has convinced me to
believe that they are all related and necessary for me to understand. Getting to know the thought of
political philosopher in the past not only deepened my interest and challenged my old thoughts but
it also opened up my eyes to the various type of political regimes with I aim to study in more depth
next academic year.

Besides from the class projects, I also enjoy getting my thought challenged with
extra-curriculum activities. I have opportunities to join numbers of Model United Nations
conferences, which each gave me different issues and stances. It cultivates me to be more
open-minded person who willing to try understanding different approaches. Also, I have
been participating in the Debate Society at my school and attending few Competitions where
I acquired the opportunity to practice using logic and constructing arguments. I also like to
engage and voice my opinion on the issues that are needed to be addressed around the
world. I was lucky enough to earn an opportunity to deliver a speech on the International
Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, at the United Nations Economic and Social
Commission for Asia and the Pacific office. By being aware of the struggle of the
Palestinians and also people around the world are facing, I started to look outside of
Thailand and wish to develop global society. And in order to reach my goal, there are
essential skills and knowledge I need to gain.

Studying PPE will further my knowledge, develop my thinking process and also my
skills. In the future, I aim to work in social science field where I get the opportunity to solve
the issues and in the same time further develop the society. I believe that, by having the
knowledge of philosophy, politics and economics, I will be able to look at the society from the
diverse perspectives and have the better understanding of it thus will eventually lead to the
better development.
