2.1 What is the importance of English language for UTHM students?

In order to understand best the importance language for students, it is important to

provide a definition of what uses English language for students. Nowadays, every
sector is using English such as engineering, economics, education, health and social
life. So it is very important to learn English, so we can communicate and get a lot of
knowledge from there. One of the reason we should learn English is we might be able
to improve our understanding of teaching and learning of English as an additional
language in our country (Sunny 2013). If we do not learn English, then it means we
are keeping ourselves away from half of the worlds knowledge. As we all know, the
English is secondary language for us so it is not very easy to master the language
people find it difficult because of too many rules in grammar and it is hard to
memorize the vocabulary, but no problem will come if we really have the will to study
and understand it.

2.2 UTHMs student do participate in English week.

An English week program is a one of program that held outside of the classroom
which is a program where their activities are made to help participant mastering
English language. The activity should be fun and educational in order to archives the
objective. Besides, the activity must be suitable according to target participant.
Nowadays, English languages are compulsory to UTHM students for improving their
communication and soft skill in order to compete in real world. There are a lot of way
to increase efficiency of English and one of it is learning outside of class such as join
English Week. There are two greats ways to learn English outside of the classroom
which is individual activities and social activities. (Hart 2014) support that these two
ways are helpful in improving English efficiency. He also states that learning English
is possible without our teacher and outside the classroom. An English week is an
alternative way to improve in English language and its fun to participate in the
program in order to improve English efficiency.
2.3 The perception towards English Week among UTHM students.

The English language is now a global lingua franca and its very importance
especially for those who seek job on foreign company and also for those want to
travel. Nowdays, English language is very important to improve communicaion and
status. People who are spoken many languages always highly regarded because its not
easy to spoke other than mother tounge. Sometimes in job description has state that
the worker that their want is must mastering English to communicate so that who are
can spoke English well are likely get the offer. English languages is necessary to fresh
graduate in order to compete with others. It is advantages for those who mastering
English languages.
