My interest in politics has been accumulated since I was six; it was the first time I have

witnessed the protest. It was also the first time I realized that there is problem existed in my
country, corruption. Growing up with this kind of atmosphere, I sooner realised that there were
more problems rather than corruption, disparity, cultural differences, inflation, excessive use of
power and much more. It seems like problems I recognised have increased accordingly to
my age, but not once has I lost the faith in the possible changes. Those problems become my
motivation to be interested in politics and to seek out for the better solution, the solution that not
only solved the issue confronting but also to understand and to create the better society. And I
Along with that thought I dont think that one could possibly understand the society one is living in
without the understanding of either politics, economics or philosophy; the three fields I have been
passionate about.
Through out the history, humans have been colliding philosophy, politics and economics
together. I have come to the realization of this truth when I was doing my self-directed project on
Political Philosophy in grade 10. I have noticed that as humans started to gather up, besides from
philosophy questions on the natural disaster and metaphysics, they began to question on how they
should be governed and later on they started to put economics factor in consideration, in order to
creating their ideal state. Not only this project convinced me that these fields are all related and
essential but it also challenged my old beliefs and shaped the way I think. Platos argument on the
weakness of democracy make me started questioning the system of government alongside with
Machiavellis theory creates me another definition of the leader. Karl Marxs theory on the equal
society draw my attention to the relationship of politic and economics as economics become an
indicator of the stable state. Philosophy, my new passion, got me fascinated on the how much
humanity is uncertain, I learned Buddhism on my self-directed project, which my favorite principle
was the five aggregations of humans mindtotally change the way I recognized my self and
experience and the way I see this world.
Besides from the class projects, I also enjoy get my thought challenged with extra-
curriculum activities. I have opportunities to join numbers of Model United Nations conferences,
which each gave me diverse issues and stances. It is joyful tackling issue using with the different
point of view; it cultivates me the open-minded willing to try understanding different approaches.
Also, I have been participating in the Debate Society at my school and attending few Competitions
where I acquired the opportunity to practice using logic and constructing arguments. I also like to
engaging and voice my opinion on the issues needed to be addressed around the world. I was
lucky enough to earn an opportunity to deliver a speech on the International Day of Solidarity with
the Palestinian People, at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the
Pacific(UN ESCAP) office.
Studying PPE will further my knowledge and develop my thinking process. In the future, I
aim to work in social science field where I get the opportunity to solve the issues and further
develop the society. I believe that by having the knowledge of philosophy, politics and economics I
will be able to look at the society from the diverse perspectives and have the better understanding
it thus will eventually lead to the better solution and development.
