GURUGRAM:Questionsareagainbeingraisedoverthequalityofeducationingovernmentschoolsacrossthedistrict,daysafterthegovernmentwas
embarrassedafterGurugramcamesecondfrombottominthedistrictwiseresultsoftheClassXIIHaryanaboardexam.ResultsfortheClassXboards,
whichwerereleasedbyBoardofSchoolHaryana,Bhiwani,onMonday,revealedheretoo,passpercentagehasfallen.

Withonly43.68%ofstudentspassingtheexams,whichislowerthanevenlastyear's51.71%,Gurugramisonceagainamongtheworstperforming
districtsinthestate.IntheClassXIIresultsannouncedlastweek,thepasspercentagewas41.Thedismalresultscouldn'thavecomeataworsetime
forthedistricteducationdepartment,whichisalreadymiredinacrisisoverfeehikeinprivateschools,whichisbeingopposedbyparents.

Outof13,632studentswhoappearedintheClassXboardexamfromGurugram,only5,955studentshavepassed.Thebestperformingdistrictis
Jhajjar,with65.47%studentspassing,whileFaridabadwasonceagaintheworstperformingdistrict,withonly38.80%passingintheexam.

Acrossthestate,50.49%ofstudentshavepassed.Onceagain,girlsfaredbetterthanboys,byamarginof8.78%.While55.3%ofgirlshavepassed,
only46.52%ofboysmanagedtogetthrough.WhenTOIcalleddistricteducationofficerNeelamBhandari,shedidn'tanswerthecalls.However,
teacher'sassociationsblamedthegovernment'spolicyoffrequentteachertransfersasakeyreasonwhyresultshadfallen.

"FromClassIXtoClassXII,schoolsusedtohavethesameteachers,"saidSaytaNarayanYadav,memberofHaryanaVidyalayaAdhyapakSangh.He
aded,"Lastyear,thegovernmentreshuffledover1012thousandteachers.Obviously,itdisruptedtheeducationingovernmentschools."

YadavalsoblamedRTEruleswhichpreventschoolsfromfailinganystudenttillClassVIII."Whenstudentsdon'thavetositinexams,theybecome
complacent.WhenfacedwithexamsinClassIXandClassX,thosewhoarenotusedtostudyingtillClassVIIIareunabletoliveuptoexpectations."

StudentswhospoketoTOIappearedclueless.Theycouldnotimmediatelyblameanyonefortheirpoorresults."Iwastaughtquitewellinmyschool,

Civicissuesapart,theresidentsalsocomplainedaboutsecurity,orlackofit.Thedeveloperprovidessecurityguards.But,theguardsarenotarmedand
thenumberisnotenough,theresidentsalleged.Also,theAravalliforestisnearby."They(guards)areneitherequippednorstrongenoughtoactincase
ofanysecuritybreach,"headded.

Moreover,thereisathoroughfare,passingthroughthesociety,whichconnectsGolfCourseRoadwithGurgaonFaridabadhighway."Therouteshould
besealedwithaboundarywallnearthehighwaysothatitcannotbeusedasathoroughfare,"saidSKChaudhary.

Theresidentssaidthattheyweredisappointedwiththeservicesprovidedbythedeveloper,andhopedthatthingswouldgetbetteronceMCGtookover
themaintenanceofthesociety.

Thedeveloper,ontheotherhand,blamedtheresidents,whoareallegedlynotpayingmaintenancecharges,forpoorsecurityandpotholedroads.
"WatersupplyisHuda'sresponsibility.ButeventhenIwouldsaythattheresidentshavecreatedtheproblemsforthemselvesasmanyofthemare
usingillegalwaterpumps.Also,therearemultistoreypayingguests,whichareextractingwaterillegally,"saidNarendraKumar,GM,Suncity.

allegingthattheschool"hikedthefee"arbitrarily.

"TheobjectivesofFFRCareveryclear.WearenotsupposedtochargeanythingbeyondwhatismentionedinformVI,"AnshulPathak,vicechairman,
DPSGSociety,said,adding,"Itisnotthatwearedisallowedtoissueanewfeestructure.Wewereactuallyregisteringourselvesasanewschoolwitha
newfeestructure,whichisnotthesameashikingthefee...Whenyouopenanewschool,youarepermittedtoissuewhateverfeestructureyoucan.
Thegovernmentwilleitherapproveordisapproveit.Inourcase,ithasbeenapproved.Wehaveissuedabaselevelfeestructure."

Askedwhytheschoolhadn'tinformedparentsbeforeissuingthenewstructure,Pathaksaidthenewsaboutithadalreadybeenleakedtotheparents.
ParentshavebeenallegingthattheschoolhasdupedthemasittookfullfeelastyearrightuptoClass12eventhoughundernewnameitwassupposed
toonlyoperatetillClass3.Theschooldismissedthisallegationas"mereissueoftechnicality."

OnSaturday,DSureshtoldTOIhehadcalledtheschoolmanagementtomeettheofficialsonMay23tocleartheconfusionovertherow.Healso
termedtheschool'scontentionas"logicallywrong."

"Itiscontradictory,"hesaid."Itpresupposesthatschooleveryschoolisthusbetteroffnothaverecognitionatallbecausethatwouldmakethemfreeto
chargewhatevertheylike,"hesaid."Iwanttoseewhattheschoolofficialshavetosaywhentheymeetme.Iwouldalsoliketoexaminethe
permissionfromtheeducationdepartmentthattheyarespeakingabout.Let'shearallconcerns."
