II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT

A: WARM-UP: (Timing: _5__

_Teacher shows students a Power Point that hides a movie poster,
students must guess which movie is it while teacher give clues about it
and showing one part of the movie poster at a time Its a romantic
movie that was released two years ago_

Students practice this exchange to activate their movie-related


vocabulary:
A: Whats your favorite movie?
B: My favorite movie is
A: What type of movie is it?
B: My favorite movie is a . Movie
(Teacher gets the example of I like musicals and I like horror movies
on the board to explain the Notice Me! Box on top of exercise 1)

Students practice the pronunciation of each type of movie and give some
extra examples on these film genres on the board making a short list.

Read the peoples comment about movies.


Students read and analyze the questions in pairs:
Which movie does each person want to see not want to see?
How do you know? Underline the words that tell you

Students match the words to the film genres and to some


examples in order to have clear concepts of:
- Im not crazy about
- Not into

Students answer the question in pairs including some movies


examples from the board.

2. Listening
The movie is in 3D

Show students a review of a movie in a power point slide without showing the
title of the movie.

Students must guess which movie are they talking about and tell which words
led you to think so.

A. Look at the picture. What are these people doing? Which word in
the box describes each person?

Talk with students about where you can find movie reviews. (Magazines,
newspapers, internet, etc.)

B. Listen to these three movie reviews. Who is speaking? Circle the


correct picture in A. Then check the boxes.

C. Listen. Which movie is being described? Match the movies (1,2 or


3) to the sentences that describe them.

3. Pronunciation

Show students this phrase in a power point slide:

Read the sentence aloud exaggerating the I.
Put three options on the board:

Which of the three options is similar to the first sentence?

Now change the stressed word:

Check the meaning difference with the different stressed words,

A. Look at these pairs of sentences. Notice the underlined (stressed)


words. Practice saying the sentences. Then listen and repeat.

B. Listen to five questions. Circle the sentence above that is the

Students play hangman with 4 different movie titles
by giving a random letter to complete the blanks in
the movies title. _

5. Speaking Strategy
Show Students the Upcoming Films section in a movie franchise website.
Would you like to watch any of these movies? Or any other?

A. Write a movie you want to see, a time, a place and a friend to


invite.

Tell students they are going to create a conversation using the information
about the movies in the box above. Introduce the Useful Expressions.
B. With your partner, play one of these roles in a phone
conversation. Use the Useful Expressions to help you.
C. Switch roles and practice.

Show a power point presentation with a short review from a famous movie,
hiding the title and the movie poster. Read it aloud with the students and help
them guess which type of movie is it, the title and whether if it was popular or
not.

B. Complete the movie review. Choose the correct form of the

Students will talk about an exciting, boring, shocking and amazing movie the
have seen and explain why it was exciting, boring or shocking for them.

Make a mind on the board about movie genres.

Elicit some examples from each movie genre.

A. What was the last movie you saw in a movie theater, online, on
DVD, or on TV? Complete the chart with your information.

Now students stand up and interview two friends that they usually dont work
with.

B. Interview two classmates using the questions in A. Write the


answers in the chart.

C. Get into a group of two or three people you did not interview in

want to see? Why?
