Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)

OVERVIEW

The Certified Accounting Technician qualification is a programme at the certificate level under the
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). This qualification is a combination of study
and practical experience designed to build knowledge in accountancy, IT and management. The
CAT programme structure and its examination is under the ambit of ACCA.

Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with at least minimum 5As which includes Mathematics and English

*Minimum number of 30 students per class is required for the class to be offered

THE CAT QUALIFICATION SYLLABUS

PAPER

FA1 - Recording Financial Transaction

MA1 - Information for Management Control
FA2 - Maintaining Financial Records
MA2 - Accounting for Cost
FAB - Accounting in Business
FFA - Financial Accounting
FMA - Management Accounting

(Written or Computer Based Examination : 2 hours)

And any two (2) of the following :

FAU - Foundation in Audit

FTX - Foundation in Taxation
FFM - Foundation in Financial Management

(Written Examination Only : 2 hours)

Certificate in Business Accounting (CBA)
OVERVIEW

The CBA programme structure and its examinations are under the ambit of the Chartered Institute
of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK. On successful completion of CBA, students will proceed to
CIMA Professional Qualification examinations and will be awarded the CIMA Certificate in Business
Accounting. Graduates with a CBA qualification may find employment in the commerce, industry or
finance at the technician level. CBA graduates are eligible for automatic transfer to the CIMA
Professional Qualification.
