may) UNIVERSITY2 W7 DENVER January 15, 2013 Dear Fisher Families- We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year. In response to the unfortunate events in Newtown, CT and other parts of our country over the past several months, there has been a heightened awareness regarding security in public places and especially involving young children. Here at Fisher, we work very hard to maintain a sense of calmness, safety and security for all of our children, families and staff. Our monthly and yearly drills, as well as routine emergency training serve to prepare our teachers and children in the event of any threat or danger. Cooperation and adherence to DU and Fisher policies is necessary by all staff and families in order to ensure our continued safety. We are currently in the process of working with DU's Campus Safety to update several aspects of our facility to improve communication and safety measures within the building and across campus. While these modifications will help us to be better equipped and prepared on a daily basis and in the event of an emergency, your cooperation as members of the Fisher community is critical to our efforts. Having and using your DU ID cards to access the building and check your children in ' and out is required to ensure their safety. This will help us to know that only authorized individuals are entering the building, and we do not fall into the habit of “buzzing in” people. We also ask that you be aware of who is entering the building as you let yourselves in and out. Furthermore, if another adult is picking up your child, they must stop at the front desk, be on the pick up list and show ID before proceeding to the classroom. Ifyou do not have an 1D card, please visit the DU Pioneer ID office located in the Driscoll Student Center-South (M-Th 10-6, F 9-3) to obtain a card. If you are having trouble using your card, stop at the front desk and we will be able to assist you. As always, our primary concern is the safety of the children and staff at Fisher and as the members of our community, your cooperation is needed. Please let us know if you have any questions.
