Code Duello

These rules are inspired by classic pistol duels which took place between the
17th and 19th century across Europe and The U.S. and they are designed to
allow for a balance of, realism, stakes without sacrificing stat bonus making
your character feel useless and just being completely random
Here are some standard guidelines
The Weapon is a standard Pistol with 1d10+Dex Mod Damage
Weapons must be identical
1 duellist can claim that neither can have medical treatment.
Misfires count as a shot.
Multi-attack is not useable in this circumstance.
ALL gunslinger abilities can be used including Sharpshooter
Feat
When you start the Duel, you need to generate some stats
HP
For the Purposes of the Duel, your HP is your maximum HP divided
by 10 rounded down. + your constitution modifier + 1
This is designed to utilise your stats so more sturdy characters are
proportionately more sturdy but also add suspense and a real weight to the
duel.
E.g. if your HP is 67 and your Con Mod is 3 your Duel HP is 10
AC
For the purposes of the Duel, your AC is the number of paces you
take before firing in the duel. The standard being 10
This is to represent your character who will be wearing no armour and facing
the enemy head on with no attempt to dodge to do otherwise is considered
dishonourable.
Then comes the Duel
After 10 paces roll initiative. The higher roll gets to go first, alternating shots.
You get two shots each if none hit the duel is over. If someone is killed or
goes unconscious the duel is over
If someone shoots early they gain a free surprise round before initiative
however this is considered dishonourable.
If the initiative rolls are close within 1 of each other E.g. 17 and 18. The
person who fires second manages to get off the shot before impact and can
roll to hit. This could lead to a double fatality.
If the damage from the pistol is equal or over your Duel HP, you are killed
instantly.
However, if the damage is equal to or over your Duel HP, halved rounded up
you are knocked unconscious and have to begin death saves, meaning if no
medical treatment is allowed your survival is solely based on your Death
Saves.
