1 Contents of the Consignment


This package comprises:

4 Installation

4.1 Installation of Hotfix 8 for STEP 7 V5.5 SP4


Prerequisite for the installation of this Hotfix is an existing installation of STEP 7 V5.5 SP4.
Due to the fact that your PLC/PC must be restarted after the installation in order to completely enter
all system variables, please close all applications (STEP 7, MS Word etc..) before starting the setup.

Start the file "*.exe" of Hotfix 8 for STEP 7 V5.5 SP4. The files will then be copied to the PLC/PC
and entries will be made in MS Windows files. Operating instructions will be given to you during
setup. The drive onto which you install Hotfix 8 for STEP 7 V5.5 SP4 will be determined by the
installed STEP 7 version.

1.1 What has Changed Compared to Version STEP 7 V5.5 SP4?
HW Config
An exception is output when invalid addresses are registered via the command interface.
The CiR capability after "Save as > Rearrange before saving (slow)" has been improved.
The loading of a CBA configuration has been improved.
The download of the CiR configuration for DP CPs has been improved.
Opening projects has been made faster, particularly for hardware configurations with
many PROFIBUS stations.
The installation and use of GSDML files that define devices without virtual submodules
has been made possible again.
The configuration of devices that are imported via GSDML file and have a very large
number of messages has been improved.
The checking of the address range in PROFINET IO has been improved especially in
projects that contain shared devices.
The plausibility check has been improved in relation to the maximum PROFINET IO data
volume with the S7-300.
The function "Go to I/O module" has been improved for modules with submodules.
The checking of the address range in projects with IE-PB Link devices has been
improved.
The consistency check in the hardware configuration has been improved with respect to
time synchronization in H-systems.
The configuration of fail-safe connections has been improved.
The configuration of an instance DB from FM350-1 and FM350-2 modules in the
hardware configuration has been removed for PCS 7 projects.
The function "Save as > With reorganization (slow)" has been improved and the dialog is
always closed when the function is finished.
As of this Hotfix: The reconfiguration of MRP configurations has been improved.

NCM
The export of WinCC tags from the OPC server for SNMP configurations has been
improved.
The configuration of ASi modules has been improved.
With operation on a PROFIBUS CP443-5, the behavior of DP/ASI-Link modules after
station recovery has been improved specifically for analog ASi slaves.

NetPro
If subprojects are not available during compilation of the configuration because they have
been swapped out for editing, messages resulting from this are no longer output as
errors, but rather only as warnings.
The configuration of H-CPUs in stand-alone operation has been improved.
The CiR capability has been improved particularly after executing the function "Download
the selected station".
The configuration of fault-tolerant S7 connections has been improved.

SIMATIC Manager
The performance when archiving multiprojects has been improved.
The "Save as > Rearrange before saving (slow)" function was improved for projects that
do not contain installed option packages.

Programming LAD/STL/FBD blocks


Switching the display from LAD/FBD to STL has been improved with respect to the use of
L bit memories.
The use of SFBs as multi-instances in blocks has been improved.
As of this Hotfix: Working with other Windows applications during a block consistency
check has been improved.

Report System Errors


The use of text libraries which have a dot in the file name is now possible.

Print Function
As of this Hotfix: The problem with the signature during printing, especially of CFC charts,
has been corrected.

Topology Editor
As of this Hotfix: The display of the cable lengths in the online table view of the topology
editor has been improved.
As of this Hotfix: Tool tip display for documentation lines has been improved.

In addition to the statements made in the Readme file for STEP 7 V5.5 SP4 regarding
virtualization platforms, it must be added that there may be restrictions in the online
functions of STEP 7.

Special Characteristics of the MS Windows 7 Operating System


In addition to the statements made in the Readme file for STEP 7 V5.5 SP4 regarding the
operating system MS Windows 7, it must be added that to edit projects, the Windows 7
default settings are necessary for the "User" user group. Deviations from the default
settings may lead to restrictions in the functionality of STEP 7.
