1. To have humor is to have the capacity to transcend something dark or absurd

in our humanity, to something funny and dumb.
2. Filipinos tend to make fun about how they keep track of their wealth. It also
suggests that people are more likely to laugh if something serious is made
fun of. The trend here is that everythings opposites.
3. The mere fact that the plot revolves around the way a rich family having
more sickly and unhealthy children in contrast to a poor family, really does
impose something unrealistic the reader. The opposing facts give the story its
appeal.
4. The truths in the selections are those that come with human attributes, that
despite our intellect, we are still capable of doing dumb things.
5. Yes, on the ground of the psychological effects of laughter. It increases the
amount of feel good hormones that release stress in the body, boosting our
immune system.

1. The homosexual person.

2. The emotion that was expressed the most was bitterness. Bitter in a way that
he wasnt sentimental when he reminisced the past experiences he had with
his father and relatives. Bitter in a way that he no longer cared about his wife
of children. It was as if he was just completing a checklist of the expected
responsibilities he had as a man. Bitterness with a hint of regret at the later
part when he mentioned about the girl dying.
3. We feel sorry for him but at the same time we feel that practically, it is his
responsibility as a man to fulfill his duties. This is very common here in the
Philippines, especially because we are a catholic country. Homosexuals
encounter a lot of challenges regarding their sexuality. However, if you think
about it in a religious point of view, these challenger may have been the
result of them being homosexuals. Frankly speaking it may be some kind of
punishment. Whatever happens, they would be experiencing these struggles
in exchange of them expressing themselves.
4. The relatives were not supportive of the idea of him being a homosexual.
They treated him poorly, especially his father. His fathers reaction is
understandable since a father would like to have a son who would continue
the family lineage. All fathers would hope to have a son that could replace
them or be their right hand when the time comes.
5. We die to rise a better life.
I should feel happy not that Im redeemed.
I had to bring this diversion to its happy ending.
6. The last sentence has two meanings for us. First, it means that sometimes a
person loses ones life/himself in exchange for a better life, not only for him
but for others as well. Second, the girl inside the addresser died to give
rise to a man. A man who everyone depends on. A man who is recognized by
his relatives. And a man who is accepted by society.
7. The last line, "we die to rise for a better life" actually implies something
biblical. As christians we believe that our life here on Earth is not permanent
and this is not the best because we will only experience the best life in our
true and forever home, which is in heaven. And we must first die physically in
order to live eternally.
8. Choosing to be a homosexual entails you to be judged by other people. And
these homosexuals are the ones that are brave enough to accept that kind of
reality. Regardless of what we choose to be, what our sexual reference is, we
are all human beings. We all are capable of feeling, acting and thinking. We
were made not to discriminate our own kind but to support and respect one
another. We are all equal beings made by God with a purpose that we need to
serve during our lifetime.
9. Homosexuals today are not portrayed as small human beings. They are
already given big roles in the society. Through social media, they are able to
express themselves freely. People are more informed about their lifestyle,
thus making them knowledgeable about homosexuals. Homosexuals are
allowed to practice their right of freedom of expression but with limitations.
People now are aware of them and are given the freedom to judge them.
10.10. The Philippine society does not discriminate homosexuals, actually they
are now very accepted compared before. However, our society is still not in
favor with homosexual marriages believing that we are a catholic nation. And
marriage is very sacred to the catholic religion that God made marriage is
only for a man and a woman: that is why homosexual marriages can't be that
easily accepted in the Philippine society.
