What is K-12 Education? K-12 Education is a process of learning that is focused in teaching
from grade 7 to grade 12. It systematically helps the students engage proper manner of learning
with the help of improvements to be done by K-12. For the ongoing educations of the other
countries like Denver in USA, they based the K-12 Education by having their pupils not just one
advisors, but two instead. This will help the motivation of their students to talk to these advisors
of them to be able for them to have a conversation that will lead the pupils to understand easier
their lessons, activities, etc. This K-12 program will also have a great effect on the students here
in our country because not only they will learn more from it, but also they will have a chance for
greater knowledge of the system of education of the other countries so that our country will be at
par with them. For example, the activities in the normal system of education in our country, it
only gives the general meaning of the lessons taught by the teachers compared to the new system
which will enhance their understanding to the lesson itself so that it will help him/her cope up
with the lessons being given to them by their school. This K-12 is also called the Secondary
Education. It means that there is a difference between the ones taught in the primary compared to
the secondary. Also in this we can assure our future graduates that they can get a profitable job
that they may be able to sync their learnings in school. The projects that will be assigned to the
pupils will be much more of great help in order for them to become more independent when it
comes to tasks like this and the different activities that are given to them by their teachers. Why
is this important? It is important for our country to ensure the implementation of the K-12
System of Education because it will level the education status of our country to the different
countries which already implemented this system. Also if it is already implemented here in our
country, we can proudly say that we are not anymore behind the other countries footsteps.

Is K-12 the solution in our countrys education crisis? Basically, yes because this system of
education will help students to enhance more their learning skills that they may be able to cope
up with the advanced lessons and also the different tasks that they will do while they are in this
system. But sad to say, this implementation is not yet agreed by all. There are several situations
that you could consider in this. First, some would say that this is all a big joke because they will
just waste money. The parents would say that this will have a bad effect rather than good because
generally, where would they get money for the desired two years of addition to their childrens
education if they are currently having financial problems that they cannot anymore handle if K-
12 will be implemented. Second, for the side of their children, will they even care to study and
handle their education seriously? Even now which they are very much tired of? But still, they
have to work on their education, because many parents would say to their children that education
is the only thing that parents can give to them instantly with no doubt. That is why students
should not take this as a disadvantage to them being able to study more so that they can find a
better job to be able to bring back the sweat that their parents absorb every time they go to work
just for the sake of their education. Lastly is the action of our government. If they can assure all
of the funds to be given to the said implementation of this system, then we will have no problem
of easily finding jobs for the newly graduates of this system and to be able to secure a process
which the government will undergo through that may our education be leveled to the other
countries level of education. All of these will be right if we abide the rules and process in order
for our country to have a smooth, eligible, and firm education based on the curriculum of K-12
education. If we want to lessen the percentage of people who are currently experiencing poverty
which is the result of their lack of education, they must make serious of their education.

Is K-12 the answer for the rise of our countrys economy? Yes because it will help our country
make our future generation of students be able to maximize their learning for them to be able to
find a right and deserving job when they finish their education. In the article that I have read,
Rey Gamboa said that K-12 is the solution to the education problems experienced by our
country. I can agree with what Gamboa said because K-12 is known for the quality of its content
and education given to the students. This will also enhance many of the students weaknesses like
being able to speak through actions rather than words, being able to cope up with the advanced
technologies that are given to the students for learning purposes, the kind of speaking in a way
that is essential or good to the audiences ears and to be able to have a positive feedback on their
performance which can help them when the time werein they will find a job after they finish
education under the K-12 System. Gamboa also mentioned that it is not only the quality of
teaching is the problem, also the empty-handed ones who cannot afford to send their children to
school even though they really want it. That is our problem. Many families who are experiencing
poverty are the ones who have many children than those of the ones who are not. If we could all
understand that education is more important than any other gift that the parents could give to
their children, then not one in our country will have difficulty financially sending their children
to school. We dont need material things. We just need education in order for us to be fulfilled
and in the future if we already have a family, we could proudly say to our children that
everything can be set aside, except for their education. Beyond education, there is nothing more
important because you can do all you want when you finish your education. Many parents would
say to their children that everything can wait as long as education comes first not even material

Due to the Philippines continuous struggles for quality education, the DepEd was pushed to
make changes by implementing the K-12 education. Though the settlement has no assurance, if it
In general, the K-12 education is the initialization of kindergarten level and the additional
2 years for high school level. Rocky Howard D. Yap (2011) noted that the Philippines is the only
country in Asia that implements a 10 year education system, there are 3 remaining countries, and
that is Djibouti and Angola of Africa. K-12 education may be the solution to our problems in
terms of education, with this it would be more accessible for people to go abroad. The K-12
curriculum is the possible solution because it can decongest the curriculum, therefore there is
also no need to rush lessons. Ray Butch Gamboa (2013) noted that It further justifies the
addition of two more years to the current 10 years (not including kindergarten) to decongest and
enhance the basic education curriculum and to provide better quality education for all (p. 12).
There are people who went abroad who unfortunately was required to take further studies
because of the reason that the Philippines only has a 10 year education. They say this was also
the reason of the failure of the 75% students on the NAT. The K-12 curriculum may be a success
if each individual work together and there is no regret to try (K to 12: For Better or for Worst,
2012). As stated by Ian Brookes (2006) Education is when a child is trained or practiced by
difficulty or distress.
As of now, the government approved the K-12 curriculum in the Philippines, but people
are still hesitating to adopt this change. Even so, it is still important to be aware of the situation.

There was a survey which served as a guide and gave additional information with regards
to the research. A selected number of 10 students of Mapua Institute of Technology were chosen
According to the survey, 7 out of 10 said no with regard to the issue. When asked about
its reason why it should not be established the majority chose D: An extra 2 years deprives a
family income in a society where the issue of poverty has not been adverse. When asked about
the issue with regard to the education crisis, the majority stated that the possible solution would
be more job offerings. Generally the questions for the first set of questions was: Do you agree
with regards to the adoption and implementation of the K-12 curriculum? As said 7 out of 10
answered no. The second question was: If yes, what do you think is the reason why it should not
be implemented? the majority vote was: An extra 2 years deprives a family income in a society
where the issue of poverty has not been adverse. The last question was: What do you think is
the possible solution in terms of our education crisis? the majority vote was the: More job
offerings. In my opinion, K-12 education is a great option because it will open bigger
opportunities, the problem is, it is still lacking of facilities, the Philippines is not ready for this
big change. It should be prepared and well planned because doing it without a good plan is like
wasting time, effort, and money, it wont be the best for everyone, and it can only worsen the
situation.
Furthermore, the survey only showed what is the perspective of the youth with regards to
the big change on the curriculum, specially that it also involves their close ones and relatives.
The court implements it but people think it will only lead to trouble.

What is the possible solution with regards to our education crisis? that is something
everyone wants to know, but as they say, everything has its solution. Problems provide
opportunities for solution, and there are a lot of things to be improved for the betterment of the
economy. According to the report given by the Editorial Projects Company, there are a lot of
major cities that almost 75% of the students failed. Raymond Gerson (2007) stated that there are
schools who are not so good in facilitating students, there are still far greater schools who
continue to grow and produce students who were a success in creating models of our society.
Graduates of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) who were less fortunate got two grades,
the rich kids were nothing compared to them. One cause is because if the excellence of the public
schools on the national standardized tests. The prevention of the crisis on education still depends
on the student, there are also dedicated teachers and courses. There should be a good educational
system that will make the society a better place. According to Michael Laitman (2011) children
now a days are hype about the internet and all other social networking sites, so to improve their
skills and to further develop their knowledge, and prevent crisis education, complementary
education is advised, it is an online interacting system which builds up skills and overcomes the
gap. UNESCO globalization would be a great help in this Process, contrary, Myron Lieberman
(1986, July 01) stated that changing education cannot be done in an instant. There can be
changes, but not that much change, changes can be done at least for ten years.
This only means that quality education still depends on the student. Also, Mr. Arvin A.
Patani (personal communication, October 25, 2014) concluded that it is about coming up with a
good plan, the K-12 curriculum is a good thing, provided that the people, government and
