implementation?

What Educational Activities were carried out? Provide a list and a brief overview:
o Personal Hygiene
o Interactive teaching
During our volunteer period one of the most interesting moments in Nicaragua was sharing with the community memb
(parents, children and teachers) to teach them basic health practices and improve hygienic, sanitary and environme
conditions. This was done through transfer of knowledge on healthy habits as personal hygiene (bathe the complete bo
every day, wash teeth, cut the nails, wash hands before eating, after using latrines, after feeding animals or after playin
basic tips on hygiene at home and in the kitchen-warehouse. We have talked to children about the importance of preserv
the environment (save water and natural resources).
d) Success / Beneficiary story
Provide two beneficiaries stories (one paragraph each), where children explain how they benefit from SF
Felix and Adan are twins that attend the Emmanuel Mongalo school, situated
in Pueblo Viejo, a community of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. They are very poor.
The have many brothers. In school they dont only receive formal education,
but they also find friends, company and protection because their parents are
working all day in the fields and cant take care of them. But most important is
that in school they find food. Thats because there isnt enough money in their
house to eat. That why they attend school everyday where they are assured
of their food.
An example of excellence
Maria is one of the mother of Hilipo School in Tuma La Dalia. She became a widow 10 years ago and has 5 kids to take care of by
herself. Maria is an example of an achiever. She works in the field, is a member of the schools feeding committee, organizes works
groups, guides the preparation of the school meal, is a community leader, is involve in the project, and works in the construction with
the rest of the men.
Today we could see the kitchen storage completed. Maria expressed her gratitude to us and was very moved, with tears in her eyes. At
last she can cook in a place with good condition, without inhaling fumes that is so bad for the health. The meals can be stored properly
and the children will have water at their disposal and can wash their hands before eating their meals.
There were loving words, grateful to WFP, TNT and the volunteers. But Maria doesnt know is that we are the ones that are grateful to
her, because without her help we couldnt finish the project.
Thank you Maria, for every thing that you have taught us. For the effort the you do everyday for the your kids so that they can have a
better future. Make good use of that energy to influence the person around you. You are an authentic example of excellence.
How will the TNT funds for 2007 be used to support the SFP and in which areas?
