Compliments:
Ms. Broaddus should be complimented for:
Writing her lesson objectives on the white board.
Aligning her lesson activities to her lesson objectives.
Utilizing tchnology with the students working independently.
Meeting with students in small guided reading groups.
Using content specific vocabulary with the students during guided reading time.
Sharing personal stories to help students make connections with the story they were reading.
Utilizing higher leveled thinking strategies with her guided reading group to enhance the learning experience.
(They were creating their own graphic organizer to illustrate the friendship of the children in the book.)
Things to consider:
Ms. Broaddus, I was only in your classroom for a short time, but make sure that during guided reading time, students get
the opportunity to read more than just a paragraph, and that all students get a chance to read, so you can monitor their
reading fluency as well as their comprehension.
Comments:
Ms. Broaddus, your class was very engaged in today's lesson. It was nice to see the students utilizing the Chromebooks
to create Google Forms while you met with your small guided reading group. You did a nice job incorporating the
suggestions from previous walk-throughs and observations into your lesson today. The students read a little and then
used their reading strategies to show their comprehension of the story.
