TEKS Objectives: (7) Number and algebraic methods. The student applies mathematical
processes to simplify and perform operations on expressions.

Lesson Objective:

- This lesson is designed to teach students negative and zero exponents in common
bases.

- After given the description and time completion of this lesson students will;

be able to understand the difference between positive and negative of exponents.

be able to divide and multiply the negative and zero exponents in common bases.

be able to practice the solving questions based on specific characteristics of


exponents.

Materials:

Pencil and paper


Worksheet
Markers and board

Introduction:

First of all, I will introduce the topic and ask some questions to understand
what they know about exponents.
After that, as a set induction, I will show to my students a short video that
related to where we use exponents in our daily life.

Activity:

Teacher is going to give worksheet and cards to students. When students


finish the worksheet they will match the cards with the answer of
worksheet questions. If they have a shape of number 7, which means their
all answer is correct.

Assessment:

Students will work on a worksheet

At the end homework will be given to the students and last question on the
worksheet will be homework.

Closure: Before students start to work on worksheet, teacher will summarize what they
have learned in this class and remind them about the steps they should follow.
