DESCRIPTION:

While maintaining the industry-proven

efficient gas extraction design of the
QUANTITATIVE GAS
MEASUREMENT (QGM),
including the tripod blade, internal
baffles, and submerged mud exit port,
the overall size is reduced to realize
the following benefits: (1) the Mini-
QGM gas trap becomes installable in
many more places that the bigger gas
traps cannot fit; (2) it requires a lower
mud level to establish an efficient extraction; and (3) the delay of gas
detection is reduced and sample refresh time is improved due to
smaller internal volume.

One important advantage of the mini-QGM gas trap is that with the reduction in weight of the trap,
the space requirement for adding a floatation device - to keep the mud volume inside the trap
constant remains practically small to fit most gumbo, sluice, flowline divider, or possum belly, all
of which are continually being reduced in size also by drilling rig designers.
