for habitat conservation and how important it is. To complete this
project i needed to have comprehensive knowledge in the area of
habitat conservation, what it entails, some of the politics and
controversies behind it, as well as what individuals can do to
contribute. I also had to have some knowledge of endangered
species and protected lands in the area. Upon completing this
project, I learned that habitat conservation is much more
widespread and difficult than I originally believed, and that there
are more protected parks, forests, and lands than I originally
thought as well. I also learned that oil companies and underfunding
are some of the greatest threats to the species and lands under
threat.

paper on habitat conservation, conducting an interview with an individual
in the field and creating and presenting a photo essay that showcases the
the beauty and importance of nature, as well as what individuals can do to
help protect species and the environment. To create this photo essay, I
drove and hiked some of the nearby parks and took a variety of pictures of
protected lands, plants, animals, and endangered species that I felt really
helped to showcase the true beauty of nature. I narrowed it down to eight
separate photographs, and then got them printed and mounted them on a
poster board. I then presented it to one of the AP Environmental Science
classes at my school and gave a brief presentation about habitat
conservation and what the class, as individuals, could do to help the
conservation movement.
This was a project where I really had to step out of my comfort zone to
present in front of a group of students that I dont necessarily know very
well. It was rather scary and awkward for me, but I got over it and in my
opinion it ended up being a huge success and furthered my public
speaking abilities and confidence.

I believe that my entire project went very well, as I was happy with
how everything ended up turning out. My presentation left me with a
great air of confidence and Im very glad that I was able to help spread the
knowledge of habitat conservation, and i dearly hope that the individuals I
shared it with will practice what I preached and go and try to help the
conservation as I will be doing. I have to admit, I did procrastinate quite a
bit with my project, so I was a little stressed towards the end, but I ended
up being confident in it, so it all turned out okay. I can improve this by
gaining better time management skills and being more organized. I grew
as an artist through forcing myself to try a photography style that I wasnt
very familiar and comfortable with(landscape) and I ended up liking the
landscape shots, and now can add that to my prowess of photography
styles that I am skilled and experienced with. I grew as a student by
writing my first very in depth research paper, and learning that I need to
be more organized. I also created my first website which I had never done
before, and I know it will be very useful in the future. And, I grew as a
storyteller by being able to to the story of ecosystems and habitats and
their importance and place in this world.
I created a memory and legacy through my art, by helping to tell the
untold story of the environment and how much it means to and benefits
the human race. I helped spread the story of the environment to
individuals who will hopefully take my knowledge and help to make a
change for the better in this world. I certainly met my goals and
objectives, as those were to spread the importance of habitat conservation,
which I did through my presentation and photo essay. There is really no
way to tell the impact that my project had upon those who I presented it
to, but I believe that I made an impact if solely one of those people I
presented my work to can go and share the importance of habitat
conservation to someone new.
