Do you want to keep your feet warm in the
autumn and winter months and look trendy?
Buy a pair of Wellies to keep you dry and to
look nice when it starts raining and snowing.
Wellies are boots made
from rubber and theyre
waterproof, which means
that they dont let water
in. They are also known
as rubber boots and
Wellington boots. Theyre
usually up to the knee, but there are also
Wellies that are lower than that. You can find
them in any colour you can imagine and with
lots of different patterns and pictures. A very
popular pattern is with the Union Jack (the flag
of Great Britain).
Today, people wear these boots in many
countries around the world, but they appeared
in the UK a long time ago.
The Duke of Wellington
asked his shoemaker in
London to change his
boots and make them
shorter (up to the knee).
This was around 1815 and
thats why today they are called Wellies after
the Duke. They are very comfortable and you
can wear them with jeans or trousers, skirts or

We arrived in London at eight oclock this
evening. It was a long journey, but I am so
excited! The hotel is in the city centre, near
Big Ben. I want to go out and walk around
Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus, but
its too late now. Mum says theres plenty
of time to go sightseeing tomorrow.
I liked Heathrow Airport a lot. There were
so many people and we waited in a very
big room to get our suitcases. There were

Day 2 3pm
Im so tired and its only 3pm! I had English
tea and toast for breakfast and then I went
to the Science Museum. I was in there with
my dad for more than four hours! My sister
and my mum went to the National Gallery
Venus by Velzquez. I want to go to the
Natural History Museum next and take
a photo of the blue whale! Dad says its
better to go there tomorrow because we
need a whole day to see everything.
Day 3 11am
Were in the queue to go on the London
Eye. Its so big and there are so many
tourists waiting! Dad wants to leave
because hes tired. He doesnt want to
