CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the conclusion and recommendations to assist future researchers.
The conclusion and recommendations were drawn based on the system design and the technical
study.

Conclusion

In designing a reliable Point to Point Microwave Link, the parameters such as bandwidth,
frequency of operation, fade margin, reflection coefficient, height of the mountain, received
signal level, and free space loss are to be considered. The principles being applied in the design
of a Point to Point Microwave Link are the recognition of the different losses in the medium used
and equipment used, line-of-sight conditions, weather conditions, Fresnel zone clearances, and
accounting for the Link budget of the system.

In this study, the proponents chose Mt. Libo Libo and Mt. Guirayan because they are the
highest elevations among mountains of Alilem, Ilocos Sur and Bakun, Benguet making them
good sites that are in line-of-sight.

Recommendations

The proponent strongly recommend to use very efficient equipment in order to have a
great reliability. The parameters mentioned above must be considered at all times. Due to
continuous improvement of wireless communication, the proponent recommend to use the latest
technologies in designing a microwave link.

OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT

Parabolic Antenna
The parabolic antenna that was used for the point-point connection of the system is the
UA10-59AC. This RFS Microwave Antenna is designed for microwave systems in all common
frequency ranges from 5.925 - 6.425Ghz. The antennas utilise a conventional feed system and
are available in three performance classes offering complete flexibility when designing a
network. It is a point-to-point antenna, has a 12ft(3.658m) diameter, single polarized, and has a
1.2 degree beamwidth at 3dB. Low Band Gain is dBi 43, Mid Band Gain - dBi 43.4, High Band
Gain - dBi 43.7, F/B Ratio - dB 72.The Elevation Adjustment (degrees) is 5, Azimuth
Adjustment(degrees) 5, Polarization Adjustment(degrees) 5.

Waveguide
The waveguide that was used in both the transmitter and receiver is the A.T WALL WG
14. It is made up of copper and brass 70/30 and an approximated weight per foot of 1.12 and
1.07lb.

Power Supply

Power plant: It consists of four rectifier units so that it can take input from electricity board
which is a three phase connection and can give 48 volts dc to the equipments held in shelter. This
output is also given to the battery bank for charging the batteries.
Battery bank: It includes 24 cells each of 2 volts. This battery bank is used in between the time
when the power from the electricity board fails and the diesel generator starts.
Diesel generator: This offers a three phase supply to the cell site in case of a long power failure.
Outdoor back haul

ZXMW NR8950 has a complete set of functions and supports smooth evolution from 2G
to LTE. ZXMW NR8950 uses highly integrated all-outdoor system architecture that can cover all
application scenarios. It is a low-cost, all-outdoor, zero-footprint access solution at the end node
and allows for multidirectional transmission convergence at the convergence node. Low power
consumption and low TCO are the biggest highlights of the all-outdoor system architecture.

ZXMW NR8950 supports 1024-QAM, the highest-order modulation in the industry. Compared
with mainstream 256-QAM, 1024-QAM can increase transmission capacity by 25 percent. This
improves spectrum efficiency and saves bandwidth. With advanced multilayer Ethernet header
compression, physical layer link aggregation, and cross-polarization interference cancellation
technologies, ZXMW NR8950 enables a single carrier to reach a transmission bandwidth of 2
Gbps. ZXMW NR8950 also transmits at high power to increase system gain and transmission
distance of the link. High-order modulation and high transmitting power improve equipment
performance and satisfy the transmission requirements of LTE mobile backhaul.
