12 on type A and Rs 13 on type B. Each product is processed on two machines G and
H. Type A requires one min of processing on G and 2 min of processing on H. Type B
requires one minute on G and one minute on H. The machine G is available for not
more than 6 minutes. While machine H is available for 10 minutes during any
working day. Formulate the problem as an LPP.

b. Vitamin A and B are available in 2 different foods P and Q. One unit of P contain 2
units of vitamin A and 3 units of vitamin B. One unit of Q contains 5 units of
Vitamin A and 4 units of vitamin B. The min daily requirement consumption of
Vitamin A and B should be 1000 and 1500 units respectively. One unit of P costs
Rs 5 and one unit of Q costs Rs 6. What should be intake of P and Q. Formulate the
problem as an LPP.
c. A firm is engaged in producing two products P1 and P2. Each unit of product P1
requires 2 kg of raw material and 4 labour hours for processing, whereas each unit of
product P2 requires 5 kg of raw material and 3 labour hours of the same type. Every
week the firm has the availability of 50 kg of raw material and 60 labour hours. One
unit of P1 sold earn profit of Rs 20 and one unit of product P2 sold gives Rs 30 as
profit. Formulate the problem as an LPP.
d. A firm manufactures 3 products A, B and C. The profits are Rs 3, Rs 2 and Rs 4

manufacture 100 As, 200 Bs and 50 Cs but not more than 150 As. Set up an LPP to
maximize profit.

X1,X2 0
SECTION-C (Compulsory) (CASE Study) (1*15=15)

5. A company manufactures three types of parts which use precious metals platinum and
gold. Due to the shortage of these precious metals, the govt regulates the amount that

unit(gm) unit(gm)
A 2 3 500
B 4 2 600
C 6 4 1200

Daily allotment of platinum and gold are 160 gm and 120 gm respectively. Determine the
optimum profit under Simplex Method.
