Introduction. Affective disorders (AD) are those that fundamentally disturb the psychic state of the
subject. They are often due to the presence of personality disorders (PD) of the patient, which may be the
source of "existential stress". The correlation between AD and PD is still insufficiently studied.
Scope of the study. The analysis of correlation between MMPI test (version SCL-90-R - symptom check list)
and PID (Personality Inventory Disorders) used for psychological testing of patients with affective and
autonomic disorders.
Material and methods. SCL-90-R and PID tests have been fulfilled by 15 patients, age - 37.6 years with
AD and vegetative disorders of psychogenic origin. In order to determine the degree and type of data
correlation between the two tests, Pearson correlation coefficient and factor analysis has been used. SCL-90-
R test with 90 items covers 9 symptomatology areas and 3 global indices. PID test contains 220 statements
having 25 personality traits.
Results. The analysis of test parameters SCL-R-90 and those of PID, the calculation PCC has established
that, in 250 cases of correlation, 35 cases are strong correlations - the value of PCC is situated between 0.99
and 0.70 that constitutes 14%. In 101 cases PCC is 0.69 - 0.30, this is an average of 40.4% cases of
correlation. There has been obtained a direct, linear statistical correlation in 54.4% of cases.
Conclusions. (1) There is a statistic linear, direct correlation between the test parameters in 54.4% of cases.
(2) The concomitant use of both tests for the same patient allows a more profound psychological investigation
necessary in both clinical and research activities.
Keywords: affective disorders, personality disorders, SCL-90, PID, correlation coefficient.
