The letter S is one of the new letters being introduced to the whole class this week.

1. Students will be able to recognize objects that begin with the letter S.
2. Students will be able to make the sound of the letter S.
3. Students will be able to trace the letter S by using a toy car.
4. Students will be able to pick out the letter S within a bag of mixed letters.

III. The Plan

Development
Pull out the container that has all different objects inside of it that begin with the letter S. Have students
say what the object is and ask them what letter they think the object starts with. Have them also practice
the letter sound after they answer with the letter S. If they dont answer correctly, have students sound
out the word that describes the object and ask them what letter they hear in the front of the word. Keep
guiding the student along until they become familiar with the S sound. Continue playing until all objects
have been noted.

Let students work on their name folders. Students should be able to match the letter cards to the letters in

their name. Then have students practice writing their name on the blank piece of paper if students have
an S in their name make sure to emphasize that so they can make that specific connection.
