Photoshopped Images.

By Amy Hannah.

Here is my original image I will be editing for the double page spread of my magazine.

Firstly, in the process of editing this image, I had used the crop tool to ensure the framing of the
image looked equal. Allowing the image to be broken into the rule of thirds, making the image
appear measurably accurate.
Firstly, I wished to make my original image appear black and white. This will make the image appear
more well contrasted and give the initial connotations I had intended with my images which is the
offset indie appearance with my band. I selected the black and white adjustment tool in order to do
this.

I had altered my levels of reds, yellows, cyans etc. as shown above to achieve the specific tones and
brightness within the image so it appeals to my intended audience. Selecting a darkened offset black
and white tool with the alteration of colour levels to achieve this look.
This is the result of the editing of the image.

After this, I had duplicated the layer of my image. Renaming it red in order for the next part of the
editing process to take place.
After heading down to the fx tool and then proceeding to select the blending options tool I had
deselected the green and blue channels to achieve the red layer in order to create a visual 3D effect
for my image.

Then, I had duplicated this initial layer. Renaming this one cyan.
On this occasion, I had deselected the red channel for this layer. Ensuring the layer would appear
blue to achieve the 3D effect initially intended.

After this I had ensured I used the unhide eye button on the layer named red to ensure it was
visible in order to move onto the next stage of editing. Also, ensuring that the move tool was
selected. I proceeded to move the red layer to the right. Hitting the right arrow key 10 times in total.
This was the result of my action.

I then preselected the layer named cyan and selected to move the layer left 11 times. Hitting the
left arrow key 11 times to achieve this.
Lastly, I had selected the unhide on the background layer. This revealed the end result of the
editorial process.

Here is my image that I had taken for the purpose of fitting on the front cover of my magazine.
I had then zoomed closely onto my image in order to see the greater detail on the artists face. Using
the clone stamp tool - I had used the alt key tool then preselected a lighter/clearer area of skin to
cover the blemishes.

This is the process after some editorial work completed.

This is the end result of the clone stamp tool being used, the artist appears to have a clearer
complexion which will appear more professional/ appealing to the primary audience.

Then, selecting the image tool, then adjustments - I had proceeded to alter the brightness of the
image. Altering the brightness cursor by 50. This allowed the image to maintain its professionalism
once again, as well as shedding light on the key features of the artist. The image now appears more
engaging.
I had then proceeded to use the crop tool throughout the editing process. In terms of rule of thirds
the image had an extra area where the backdrop could be seen. Therefore, the audiences eyeline
may not have been drawn to the artists features right away, rather the extra backdrop space which
appears distracting/unnecessary for the audiences.

I then decided after this process I would alter the colour balance within the image to make notable
colours more vivid and engaging.
Furthermore, I decided to alter the colour levels by 24+. This enhanced the red tones within the
image. Alongside the hair colour tones. Which allows the artist to convey the superstar persona
within the indie music sector.

This is the end result of the editorial process.

This is an image that I will be editing again - for the front cover of my magazine. I had chosen to use
this image due to the I had obtained. It fits according to purpose for my magazine - introducing the
audience to new as well as present artists within the indie sector.

Again, similarly to my previous edited image, I had decided to use the crop tool to ensure that the
image was broken up into the rule of thirds - which allows the audiences eyeline to meet with the
artists eyeline also.
I had then selected the clone stamp tool - considering the blemishes that appear on the artists face,
this will allow me to clear these carefully, making the image appear more professional for the
audiences.

This is the finished result of the editorial process stage.

Similar to the previous image i had edited for my magazine, I had selected the color balance tool and
adjusted the colour levels by 24+. Keeping to a significant theme with the uses of colour to connote
the idea of new edge artists being seen within my magazine.

I then adjusted the brightness of the image in order for the artist to maintain the professional look
within the magazine
This is the end result of the editorial process.

This is an image I will be editing for the front cover of my magazine. I intend on using it for my front
cover in order for it to fit for purpose.
I firstly used the crop tool in order to edit the framing of the image. Visually, this will appear to my
audience more if the image is broken into the rule of thirds.

In order to achieve the rule of thirds, i used the arrow key tool to measure the width between the
artist and the edge of the image. Paying attention to accuracy to achieve a good landscape medium
close up frame and angle.
This is the finished result after cropping the image.

I had then selected the colour balance tool again to achieve vibrancy for my image. Allowing the
reds in the artists jumper - hair colour tones to be lightened. Highlighting the artists features
within the photograph.
Again, the image needed to be brightened in order to achieve a professional look of the artist. I had
altered the brightness by 21+ to achieve this look.

This is the end result of the editorial process.

This is the image I intend on editing to put into context.

As the image is extremely bright due to sunlight being captured within the image, I will firstly lower
the brightness of the image to ensure that it looks more appealing for the front cover of my
magazine.

By selecting the image tool, then selecting adjustments and brightness/contrast I had set the
brightness to minus 44. This allowed the image to appear darker which allows audiences to see the
key features of the artist.
This is the result of the editing process stage.

Furthermore, I decided to alter the vibrancy of my image. Selecting the image tool and then
adjustments, lastly selecting the vibrance tool. I set the vibrance to +25. This made the image appear
sharper - highlighting the shadows seen in the background of the image.
Then, altering the colour balance shown in the image. I set the levels to above shown in the
printscreen. This brought more lighter colours visible to the eyes of the audience. It works well to
make this colour visible.

Then, to enhance this colour more so - I set the magenta levels to -51.
This is the end result of the editing process: a vibrant image ready to fit into context.

For this Image, i had used the vignette editing tool to create softer yet edgy connotations for my
feature image. Firstly using the black and white adjustments tool, then developing the vignette tool
afterwards.
I had also developed the contrast and brightness of the image. Having done this, it again - reinforces
the edgy yet relaxed connotations I had wished to connote with this image.

Here is an image i will be editing in order to fit into context for my contents page as part of my print
publication.
Firstly, for this image I wanted to alter the image colour balance to bring out the vibrant colours of
purple, reds and distinct yellow that can be recognised in the image.

I did this by selecting the image tab, then adjustments, then colour balance to alter the levels as
shown above - I had done this as it made the image appear more visually enjoyable for the intended
audiences.
This is the end result of the editing process, with my image ready to fit into context.

This is my image secondary image I will be using for the contents page for my print publication.
I firstly altered the brightness of this image so it would appear professional in order to fit for purpose
and to allow the artists key features to be seen clearly.

I had simply altered the levels here by 20+ in order for the photograph to appear visually more
professional for a print publication.
Then, selecting the colour balance tool: I had altered the levels as shown above, having used the
colour levels at +41 for the red tool to enhance the red tones within the image. Tying in with the
theme throughout the rest of the contents page.

This is the end result of the image editorial process.
