There exist a secret society with branches throughout the world and its plot is to spread
the rumor that a universal plotsays (umberto ECo). Neighborhood improvements bonds
neighborhoods by means of influx of more affluent residents, which results in increased property
values and the displacing of lower-income families and small businesses (merriam webster).
neighborhood is the last oldest and last standing historic black community. Most of the
neighborhood is privately owned and zoned for single family residential. If the government took
cherry a lot of people will lose their homes and it will also take away historic meaning.
Politically dangerous territory in North Carolina the cities of Davidson, Chapel Hill and Manteo
are the only places to have independently worked such policy into housing ordinances. For
example, last September, city council initially voted down the development of a mixed-use
property on the Cherry/Midtown border that would include 225 hotel rooms, 300 apartments,
3,000 square feet of commercial space and a parking lot( citation). Gentrification is a difficult
thing because the people that own houses in the area have the right to sell their property to
developers or build bigger without respect to the character of the community. (Keisha Jacobs).

childhood friends and neighbors move away. When gentrification is happening it take
more than just the homes and apartments. That gentrification displaces poor people of
color by well-off white people is a claim so Commonplace that most people accept it as a
widespread fact of urban life. (John Buntin a new york journalist). What he mean by
this is, most people of color is put out by whites.. Gentrification is commonly understood
about more than rising housing prices. Its about neighborhoods changing from lower-
income in black or Latino neighborhoods to high-income and whites start to move into
the neighborhood. This is why gentrification is bad for community and neighborhood in
The gentrification harms our economy and spending money we dont have. Is
gentrification about color Or economic? For gentrification normally higher income people tend
to move into lower income neighborhoods and community because of process of buying
property. In chicago,ILL $140 million went to rehabbing and demolishing homes and they only
made 169 million in six year and it went to tearing down homes. $6.5 million to induce Sara Lee
to move to the West Loop from Downers Grove (citation). Chicagos is just spending money just
to improve their neighborhood and it's more thing that can be doing with that money instead of
building neighborhood that don't need improvement. The US spent 130 million into the baltimore

our money on things we can solve without using money isnt good for our community. learning
how to build things our self and teach others how so we can do for our self. War on Poverty has
cost 22 trillion dollars three times more than what the government has spent on all wars in
American history(Rosenwald and Fletcher). Federal and state governments spend 1 trillion in

taxpayer dollars on America's 80, meaning tested welfare programs annually this is the main
reason we are in debit. People need to think of a plan to help. The US estimates that Texas'
GDP(gross domestic product) would increase by 17 percent to 30 percent over the next 25 years
with the TSGP (Taxpayers Savings Grant Program ) adding a whopping 260 billion to 460 billion
to the economy annually. One-third of all Americans receive benefits from at least one welfare
The gentrification harms our economy and spending money we dont have. Is gentrification
about color Or economic? Gentrification destroy people's lives and mind and self confidence. It
isnt fun when you have to leave home because you cannot afford it anymore. The moment you
stop recognizing the people around you always makes the place you call home feel unfamiliar
(Malika Giddens). Malika also brings attention to this story when she was in junior high. She
says she seen a white woman who disguised her voice, but video recorded her neighborhood
asking other white people to take advantage of the stupid residents and the cheap rent (Malikia
Gidden). When wealthy people moved into the cheap in low rated places it forces the landowner
to increase on things. As wealth people continue to move in the environment starts to change and
start to switch for more money and more income. Things are changing in our cities in United
States crimes rates are going up. Murders are going up in the United States is at 15,696. Also
There were 327,374 robberies nationwide and were 90,185 rapes so it more things we should be
worry about then trying to tear down old neighborhood. People are losing there life left and right
and the United States is not trying to improve how are we going to try and fix this problem.
When you take something from the poor they feel like you are against them that why the crime
rate's going up. Keep kicking people out were they know best and are forced to go somewhere
new and unfamiliar places. When people don't have things the only thing they know is the streets

an online referral service that helps students and parents locate professional tutors in their area.
The service is 100% free for parents/students, while a nominal referral fee, per job is charged to
tutors. That will change the mindset of younger kids age 12-18 so they know that's it a lot out
Although people say that gentrification is good but it only taking advantage of the poorest and
disadvantage. Other may say that rebuilding is good but it takes mental things from people are of
the scarcity of quality urbanism. The driving force behind both is the far larger process
reurbanization.
Gentrification is bad for everyone environment and how they live. People are get put out of
there homes and can't do anything about it. People that work hard and it's still ain't enough to live
in there home. Its single parents that are trying their hardest just to take care of their child and
make sure they going to school and have nice clothes. That now got to stop giving there child
things they want to keep up with this month rent, lights and make sure the water stay warm.

cities, gentrifying tracts saw massive growth rates in home prices compared to areas that were
not gentrified.. Hartley found an average increase by eight points in gentrifying neighborhoods.
This is hugely important, with an increasing number of companies running credit checks for
prospective employees. More worrisome is that delinquency rates remain higher in non-
gentrifying neighborhoods.
In Charlottes recent history, numerous black neighborhoods have been torn down or sliced in
half by highways in the name of progress. Much of this occurred in the 1960s and 70s, as
Charlotte embarked on an urban renewal plan that destroyed its largest black neighborhood a
community known as Brooklyn. Over 11 years, Charlotte tore down 1,480 structures in
Brooklyn, including numerous black churches. It then sold acreage to a historically white church
The city never built new housing for Brooklyn residents. And thats why the Beatties Ford Road
corridor, which included black neighborhoods, such as Biddleville. When blacks moved in,
whites fled, and neighborhoods that had been white became predominantly black.
