Thank you for choosing e-DPP. Please read this document before you start the installation.

Required System for e-DPP Installation

The following system environments are required for the installation of e-DPP Ver2.5.

Microsoft Windows 2000 (SP2 or later) or XP

Microsoft Excel 2000 or 2002 (XP)
256MB RAM (512MB or more recommended)
More than 220MB hard disk space
1280 x 1024 resolution monitor
USB port (for license key)

Unless your PC meets the above requirements, e-DPP could not be installed successfully, or could not be
executed properly.

Steps of Installation
The installation of e-DPP is divided into the following 2 steps:

1 Install e-DPP
2 Install USB driver for the license key (Not required for Demo version.)

Terminate all the application programs.

If e-DPP demo version is already installed in your PC, please uninstall it first.
If e-DPP version 2.3.0 or earlier has been already installed in your PC, it is recommended to uninstall it
unless you have any particular reason to remain the old version in your PC. Even if the old versions of
e-DPP exist, the new version 2.5.0 can co-exists with them.

1) Installing e-DPP
Insert the installer CD into the CD drive of your PC. The dialog below will appear. If you cannot get this
dialog automatically, using Windows Explorer double click on eDPPInstaller.exe file located on the root
directory of the installer CD. (eDPPInstallerDemo.exe file for Demo CD)

Follow the instructions displayed by the setup wizard.

Note: Keep the installer CD intact to your CD Drive until you finish the installation of the USB Driver
illustrated on the following section Installing USB Driver for License Key (Disregard this note for demo
version program.).

If your MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Component) version is less than 2.6, the e-DPP installer automatically
installs MDAC 2.6. If MDAC has been updated, the installer will ask you to reboot your PC.

2) Installing USB Driver for License Key

(This step is not required for the demo version program.)

If version 1.4.2 of e-DPP or earlier was already installed on your PC before you install DPP version 2.5, the USB
key driver must be upgraded as well. Please refer to the separate instruction document USB Key Remote
Programming.

If this is the first time to install e-DPP on the PC, please proceed with the steps below.

After you complete the installation of e-DPP software, keep the installation CD in your CD drive and plug the
USB license key to USB port.

A. For Windows XP

The dialog below appears and the installation starts.

Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

Select Search for the best driver in these locations. -> Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM) and
click Next.

Installation of USB key driver starts.

Installation of USB key driver finished. Click Finish.

B. For Windows 2000

The dialog below appears and the installation starts.

Click on Next button.

Select Search for a suitable drive for my device and click on Next button.

Check CD-ROM drivers only, confirm if the installation CD is in the drive and click on Next button.

The wizard detects the required driver files in the CD. Click on Next button.

About the Maximum Number of Sheets within Microsoft Excel Workbook

e-DPP automatically creates several MS-Excel sheets within the same workbook when outputting motor data
sheets, etc to MS-Excel.
The maximum number of sheets that can be created depends on the version of MS-Excel and/or your PC
resources (size of memory, etc.).
For instance, even if you like to output 300 motor data sheets to MS-Excel at a time, only 255 sheets would be
created and the rest 45 sheets would be abandoned.

About the version of MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Component)

e-DPP installer will detect the current version of MDAC on your PC. If the version is less than 2.6, the
installer will automatically install MDAC 2.6.
However, when it fails, you need to install MDAC 2.6 according to the following instructions:

Install Microsoft Data Access Component (MDAC) 2.6

Check your current MDAC version with the registry editor. If MDAC version is 2.6 or higher, it is not
necessary to install MDAC 2.6.
If your PC has MDAC Ver.2.5 or lower installed, e-DPP installer program gives a message This program
can not be installed on MDAC Ver.2.xx and will be abnormally terminated.

Install MDAC Ver.2.6

Go to the directory MDAC in the installer CD and double-click on the file MDAC_TYP.EXE.
Installation of MDAC Ver.2.6 will start.

Interference with Lotus Notes

If Lotus Notes is running on your PC, you have to terminate it before you install USB license key driver.
