Nouns are restates with Appositives
Johnny, ________, wants to live
Verbs are action words like go

Nouns positions are easy to see just find the preposition

Participle phrases end in ing or ed and describe
__________________, the man gave the cop a bribe.
Relative phrases give more information
Sam, ____________, needs a vacation
 When I was younger I memorized a poem for girl
scouts. It started, Nouns are just the names of
things like rice and birds and snow and rings. It
proved to be incredibly useful throughout life as it
gave me a firm grasp of all of the parts of speech. I
redesigned the poem to be a sort of mad libs game
for students. Please note it does NOT contain all
parts of speech just the parts of speech that we
cover in my class. I plan on using it as a first day
activity so they can refer to it in the future when I
mention any part of speech.
