Major Assignment #3 Reflection

For my major assignment #3, I wrote about the topic of war and history. To be exact, my

topic was which war affected American identity more, World War I, or World War II? While

doing research, I realized that both wars affected America pretty equally, which left it difficult to

come up with a clear conclusion. This can be applied to the history of America, and its identity,

since, at times, America evolves its identity through major events. While presenting facts and

arguments for each side, I used logos, which is logic. I used facts to persuade the reader to

believe what I was presenting. I had to use logos, because it was the only sensible and logical

choice, since I was only presenting historical facts. Upon reflection, I did learn about the two

wars and see how much they affected our identity as a nation.

While writing this paper, I felt the same way when I was writing the second assignment,

that our identity as a country has been formed by our history. This is obvious with any society,

but with so many religions being able to be practiced or created here, we have a different history

than many older countries.

While writing this paper, I learned something historical about these two wars. When I

reflect upon it now, wars have a great effect on a countrys identity, and not just these two wars.
The American Revolution, Civil War, Vietnam War, and the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have

all had effects on American identity, and not always in a good way. With these two wars,

America became a superpower, which has affected our identity ever since.
