To Whom It May Concern:

I am recommending Alicia Freeman for a secondary teaching position in your

school district. Ms. Freeman is currently completing her Teacher Candidate
experience at Fesler Junior High School, and I have had the opportunity-as
her Cal Poly University Supervisor-to observe Alicia in the classroom.
Fesler Junior High School has a diverse population, and Alicia teaches both
heterogeneously grouped classrooms, as well as homogenous groups. Her
interactions with students are friendly and respectful. The standards of
conduct and effective routines have been established, and Alicia manages
groups, transitions and materials efficiently.
Alicias willingness and ability to model her lessons, in concert with her
Co-operating Teacher, demonstrate both her motivation and dedication to our
profession. In addition, Alicia is reflective and actively pursues feedback
from both her Co-operating Teacher and her University Supervisor-and she
incorporates the learning from the feedback into her next lesson-with great
success!
Prior to being a Teacher Candidate, Alicia mentored incoming Cal State
University-Chico- students to prepare them for college classes. In addition,
she communicated with the incoming students with writing advice, graded their
essays and managed the grade book.
She also edited the format of California Polytechnic University, San Luis
Obispo graduate theses and tracked the status of the theses. Ms. Freeman was
a Teaching Apprentice at Cal Poly, where she attended classes and took notes
as a resource for students, as well as grading response essays on
Shakespeares plays and Renaissance literature, offering both detailed
feedback and grades to students.
Alicia also interned at the Guadalupe Dunes Center, where she taught third
and fifth grade students about the local ecosystem and the Guadalupe area, as
well as creating and teaching writing assignments focused on the Guadalupe
area.
Alicias continued focus on writing and the writing process will benefit all
of her future students.
I encourage you to interview and give Alicia consideration for a position in
your district.
