My Discipline Philosophy

With a successful, educational program at hand, the need for student discipline is vital for

the coherence and cooperation of a classroom. As an educator, discipline is a testimony for each

and every student to show responsibility in the classroom, work to the best of his or her ability,

and enjoy the various lesson plans and educational strategies from the educator. Discipline

should be a training process in which it is a positive attribute to student learning. I believe that if

the student is interested and attentive in this type of classroom environment, than good conduct

and self-discipline will be a gain in his or her learning experience.

From the beginning of the school year, it is my obligation to showcase the rules and

regulations of the classroom for all students to recognize and understand. This is a small stepping

stone to building communication with students and their families. As an educator, it is important

that I understand each and every student and have a direct connection with his or her home. From

a preventative discipline standpoint, I believe that a student should have a goal to become a

better person in their community. With academia also comes responsibility and respect for the

classroom. With student communication and a close working relationship with the parents, I will

keep up with the childs progress, not only as a student, but as a beneficial person to the school

community.

I believe that the idea of respect is a communal contract between the teacher and the

student. I expect students to be respectful of myself, the faculty, and the administration; however,

it is my primary obligation to give that same type of respect to the learner. As an educator, I trust

in the idea of the teacher and student working together in order to achieve success and higher

order thinking in the classroom. If disciplinary action is necessary, not only will it be done

through intervention, but it will also be solved quickly and fairly to ensure consistency in the

classroom.
My goal is that students will maintain an excitement for my learning strategies and

lessons every day, and that they will nourish their own self-discipline to be better students and

people in the community. By exemplifying positive conduct and responsibility in the classroom,

students are also creating a safe and enjoyable environment where they can receive the benefits

of a successful education.
