The main facility of this scheme is integrated domestic sewage treatment facility, ma

1) Pre-sedimentation pond
It is mainly for the purpose of removing sediment and suspended solid of larger par
omestic sewage flows slower after entering the pre-sedimentation pond, and sediment and
suspended solid of larger particles in domestic sewage will sink to the bottom of the ta
nk due to gravity, so effluent from the pre-sedimentation pond contains almost no sedime

Contact aeration basin is one aerobic biological treatment process, and provided with
fillings, to which biofilm attached will absorb and oxidize the organics in the sewage.
Oxygen required by microorganisms is aerated by fans. Contact aeration basin has the fo
llowing features: It has a high volume load due to a big filling surface area, a favor
able oxygenating condition in the basin and higher biomass on a unit volume in the con
tact aeration basin basis than in the activated sludge aeration pond and biological filter;
It is easy to operate and manage for a large quantity of microorganisms are fixed an
32
d growing at the filling surface; It has strong adaptability to sudden change of water
quality and quantity due to a large fixed amount and mixed water flow; It has a lo
wer production amount of sludge than that of activated sludge process when a high orga
nic load makes F/M keep within a certain level due to high sludge concentration.
