their needs unmet. Early care and early education can combat these
feelings of loss and misguided trust, helping to build resilience. Of
course, this can all be prevented if parents are given a chance to
form these essentials bonds early on. The first two years of life are
critical. Even children who face hardships later on have an easier time
coping with difficulties when an attachment has been formed in the
first year of life. Issues of attachment and trust must not be ignored.
