To make a residence permit, the IND must have a photo, a signature and
fingerprints of the foreign national.
How can the foreign national provide the passport photo, signature and
fingerprints?
The foreign national abroad
The sponsor (from the Netherlands) has submitted an application for
the foreign national (abroad).
- In the case of a positive decision, the foreign national can pick up
his provisional residence permit at the Netherlands Embassy or
consulate (in his country of origin). When collecting the provisional
residence permit, the foreign national must bring a new (not yet
previously used) passport photo with him. This passport photo
must meet the Dutch passport requirements. These requirements

- At the Embassy or Consulate, the foreign national must record his
signature and fingerprints are then taken.
The foreign national has submitted an application to the Netherlands
Embassy or consulate abroad.
- When submitting the application to the Netherlands Embassy or
Consulate, the foreign national must bring a new (notyet
previously used) passport photo.
- At the Embassy or Consulate, the foreign national must also record
his signature and fingerprints are then taken.

Appendix
Passport photo, signature and
fingerprints
The foreign national is in The Netherlands
The foreign national is in Netherlands and has sent his application by
post (written request).
After submitting the application, the foreign national must then go
to an IND Desk to have a passport photo made. Also, the foreign nati-
onal must record his signature and fingerprints are then taken.
No appointment is necessary for this. The addresses and opening
hours of the IND Desks can be found atwww.ind.nl.
The foreign national has made an appointment to submit his request
at the IND Desk.
During the appointment at the IND Desk, a passport photo will be
made. Also, the foreign national must record his signature and fin-
gerprints are then taken.
Citizen of the EU or EEA or Switzerland
For EU citizens and members of the EEA and Switzerland there are no
fingerprints on the residence permit. There will be a photo and a
signature on the residence permit. These can be submitted in one of two
ways:
European Union citizens and members of the EEA and Switzerland
may use the Appendix Passport photo form
European Union citizens and members of the EEA and Switzerland
go to an IND Desk to have a passport photo made.
