2. REQUIREMENTS
By completing the units in the accompanying tables, students may qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Engineering, or the Graduate Diploma
in Engineering or the Master of Engineering as follows.
To qualify for the award of the Graduate Certificate in Engineering a candidate must complete 24 credit points of units of study drawn from the
lists of core and specialist units of study.
To qualify for the award of the Graduate Diploma in Engineering a candidate must complete 36 credit points of units of study from the
prescribed tables.
Master of Engineering
To meet requirements for the Master of Engineering a candidate must complete 72 credit points as listed in the unit of study tables including:
Candidates who have been granted 24 credit points of Reduced Volume Learning (RVL), must complete 48 credit points including:

Specialist units may also be taken as Elective units. Other Postgraduate units in the Faculty
may be taken as Elective units with the approval of the Program Director.
Electives may be approved for candidates who have been granted RVL with the approval of
the Program Director.
Note: Candidates must complete 24 credit points of listed Specialist units and 12 credit points of listed Elective units.
Candidates who have been granted 24 credit points of Reduced Volume Learning (RVL) must complete a minimum of 12 credit points of listed
Specialist units. Elective units are not available for candidates with RVL.
All candidates must complete Research units comprising either Capstone Project A & B (ELEC5020 plus ELEC5021 - 12cps), Capstone Project
A & B Extended (ELEC5020 plus ELEC5022 - 18cps) or Dissertation A & B (ELEC5222 plus ELEC5223 - 24cps). To be eligible for the
Extended Project option, students must have a WAM of 70 or higher. To be eligible for the Dissertation option, students must have a WAM of
75 or higher.
Note: Candidates must complete the specified 24 credit points of listed Specialist units for the award of this major.
Candidates who have been granted 24 credit points of Reduced Volume Learning (RVL) are exempt from 12cp of listed core units and 12 cp of
electives.
All candidates must complete Research units comprising either Capstone Project A & B (AMME5020 plus AMME5021 - 12cps), Capstone
Project A & B Extended (AMME5020 plus AMME5022 - 18cps) or Dissertation A & B (AMME5222 plus AMME5223 - 24cps). To be eligible
for the Extended Project option, students must have a WAM of 70 or higher. To be eligible for the Dissertation option, students must have a
WAM of 75 or higher.
5. UNIT BLOCKS
Block 1 - Specialist Units (Min CP: 24,Max CP: 36)
Note: Candidates must complete 24 credit points of the Specialist units listed above in an Engineering major.
Candidates who have been granted 24 credit points of Reduced Volume Learning (RVL) must complete a minimum of 24 credit points of listed
Specialist units listed above in an Engineering major.
Note: Candidates may complete 12 credit points of Elective units from either Specialist units or the Elective units listed above in an Engineering
major.
Subject to the approval of the Program Director, other postgraduate units in Engineering, IT and Project Management may also be taken.
Electives may be approved for candidates who have been granted RVL with the approval of the Program Director.
