2. Pick a color: Each person in your group will have a different colored
pencil.
3. Pick your starting role. Do you want to be the Spy, Sleuth, Eliminator,
or Verifier?

Now you are ready to begin!

1. At the top of the first passage, write your name and role with your
pencil.

2. As a group, complete the four experts (use your notes!!!)


a. Expert 1: Spy (circle and box the tricky words)
b. Expert 2: Sleuth (underline question and other important
words)
c. Expert 3: Eliminator (answer and fully cross out wrong
answers)
d. Expert 4: Verifier (check answer and add codes for wrong
answers)
Even if you are not the expert, help out your group!

3. Switch roles and begin the next passage.


a. At the top of the second passage, write your name and new
role.
b. Everyone will complete all four roles
