Observation Task 4

Choose, justify and reflect on the selection of appropriate routines and explain
practical aspects of their implementation.
Reflect on how routines can impact classroom environment (pacing,
preventive CRM, student engagement)

Choose and justify the selection of appropriate routines (entering/leaving


the class, transitions, submitting work, resource distribution) in a range
of contexts (ages, gender, class size, school context, class dynamics,
parental support)
Explain practical aspects of implementation (clear instructions

TASK DESCRIPTION
The task is made up of two activities:
Activity 1: Observing Classroom Routines and Procedures
Activity 2: Planning for/Developing Routines and Procedures
You are to complete BOTH Activity 1 AND Activity 2.

Activity One: Observing Classroom Routines and Procedures

Though there are many routines and procedures all over the school such as
returning from assembly or walking in the hallways, this task focuses on what
happens inside of your classroom only.
During the first week of your teaching practice observe your MST and her/his
classroom. Make a note of five (5) routines that you see her/him use every day
inside of the classroom. Fill in the table below to describe EACH routine; when

After the Task - Reflection


Reflect on the routine of the classroom and how it is was effective with the
students? Explain how this routine will affect student learning in a KG class.

The routine that KG2A use in their class is first, students enter the classroom and they put
their bags on the shelf. In Al Resalah International School Kg students dont have assembly
except on Thursday. So, they start going to Kg2B to read Quran with their Arabic teacher.
After finishing the Quran, Kg2A go back to their class. The first class will be English. The
teacher starts with them by greeting them and doing the morning routine with them. She
will ask them about the weather and whats today, then she will start the lesson with them.
After finishing the lesson, they will go to wash their hand to eat their meals. When they
finish their meals, they must clean up the place then they will go to wash their hand then
they go outside to the playground. At 10:15 the break finish so, they should go back to the
class and at 12:30 they will finish and they will go back to home. Classroom routines effect

Before you begin to complete the table talk a little bit about the class/lesson in which this plan for routines is to be
used. Include:

These routines are used in the classroom to managing students behavior and to let the students be more
organized. Most teachers use rules before every lesson to make sure that students will pay attention for

Choose 3 best practices you observed during your time in school. Reflect on these and consider why you could
implement these in a UAE KG classroom in the future. Explain how these practices will affect student learning in a
KG class.

What I really like is let the students take the attendance by themselves, when do this will be responsible and they will learn
how to lead the classroom. I also like that the teacher ask them to clean their places after they finish their meals or their
activities. By doing this they will learn to be organized. Last thing is using transition in the classroom and making a line. This
will manage students and the classroom.
