TEC. Alcom Co. has proved that their criteria in professionalism. The contractor of Aurora Co. did not
show up late in any meeting and reply all e-mails as soon as possible. Aurora Co. also suggested some
improvement on the design for better performance. The improvement include adding sponge to reduce

move freely. Besides, Alcom.Co also speak fluently English and this also fulfill the TEC of Alcom Co.
Moreover, Aurora Co. can manage to cut down the cost of the project by using most of the recycle

does have experience in building a bicycle.
Vivaa provided a well laid of tender that almost fulfill the Alcom Co. TEC. The reason why Vivaa
is not selected because some of the evidence are not well supported compared to Aurora Co. For instance,
Vivaa did show good idea for improve the prototype and the quality in editing their tender is not well
manage.
A few mistake in the design came up in Alcom Co. during the stage 1. Aurora Co. has suggested
some change in the axle, adding cable tie and adding more sponge in the bumper, while Vivaa suggested
only 1 change which is adding cable tie in the rover. Alcom Co. has agreed to these changes from Aurora
Co. as it presented well.

1.0 Introduction
This tender covers Aurora Co. tender submission for
constructing the Mars Rover. The two companies have
met each other and the contractors have understood the
requirements and have confidence on constructing the
design requested by the designer company. It has been
written as acknowledgement to the criteria that was
described by Alcom Co. document STAGE 1 EFPC.pdf,
developed on behalf of EMPACT.
2.0 Design Package Review
A design review has been done by Aurora Co. to have
a complete understanding of the project.
9
2.2 Suggestions and improvements
The contractors of Aurora Co. have come up with 4
suggestions or improvements that can enhance the
implementation of the vehicle. The first is the wheels of
the structure. The wheels wrapped with balloon rubber
will not be enough as the wheels are unable to move in a
straight position. It is optional to use bottle caps to stick
between the wheels. This will prevent the wheels from
moving sideways.
The second is that whether which material is suitable
for the axle of the structure. The material must be hard
and will not broke easily; otherwise the axle will broke
from the fall as it is unable to withstand the impact. Thus,
it was suggested that PVC pipe will be used for the axle
as it is ductile and has high impact resistance.
Next is the front part of the structure. The reason is
when the structure falls during the testing, there is a
probability that the structure falls at the front, thus will
cause severe damage to the object inside the vehicle at
the front. However, a sponge was suggested at the front
part for the protection of the object to minimize the
impact.
Lastly is the inner part of the structure. When the
vehicle is moving, the object inside will not be in a fixed
position due to the motion of the vehicle. Nevertheless,
the cable ties are optional for this problem. By using it to
wrap around the object, the object will be prevented from
moving freely. The holes must be made on the lower part
of the vehicle in order for the cable ties to wrap the
object in a circular loop.

3.0 Criteria
In this section, the tender evaluation criteria
explained by Alcom Co. was addressed completely and
how the contractors will be able to fulfil the criteria.

assured that the contractors are punctual in
meetings and take responsibility for constructing the
project and will always be in that attitude in the
future.
11
The contractors are able to communicate with the
designers and can speak in English language fluently.
Additionally, the contractors always reply the e-mail
within 12 hours and will respond to any text
messages or calls within a short time.

1.0 Introduction
This report provides the Vivaa Company tender submission for the Mars
Lander/Rover construction. This report also contain the feedback to the criteria
stated by Alcom.Co.
17
The overall view of the Mars Lander/Rover is shown as the figure above.
According to the design, the overall weight of the prototype is supposed to be light.
This is because the material used to build the base is a shoebox. It can also produce
less impact instead of using wood as base. Sponge will be put inside the base to
hold the bottle. Sponge is flexible so it will be a suitable material for holding the
bottle. Each wheel of the prototype will be made by 3 compact discs which will be
stuck together with hot glue gun. The compact discs will then be wrapped by
balloon so it will produce less impact. PVC pipe will be the axle of the prototype
because of its durability. Cable ties are wrapping the bottle to secure it, just like a
safety belt.

Maximum Height 210
Vertical Drop Height 1000
Slope Distance 2000

19

project with low construction cost. Alcom.Co requires the contractors to manage
the construction cost within RM15 or lower.
After the discussion from Vivaa Company, some cost of the materials can be
reduced by reusing the materials such as the compact discs. This mean the cost for
the compact discs purchase will be half which costs RM3.30. The contractors had
prepared the reused compact discs (Refer to Appendix IV). The contractors will
