12.12.2016 Angelika Lys I think the most important part of each activity
18.30-21.30 Guillaume was socialisation. Starting off as a 1 st year
Visiting Surmont student, one can feel lonely in a new city, while all

Potter First of all, the problem of organising a group of
Thomas people to meet was the biggest one. We all have

Bert Lytens extra curriculum work. We began with setting up a

Lippens share their suggestions of an activity we could do
Francisca together and the suitable timing. The mentors had
Navarro to be persistent and send reminders to the chat so
that the meeting took place and everyone was
there.
I liked being in control of organising a group
activity, I have some experience in that from my
previous job as a promotion manager. Sharing my
knowledge and some tips on school tasks and
studies in IBM in general felt satisfactory as well,
being able to coach while still a student is a good
practice for future professional life.
I believe that being persistent and keep the
end goal in mind is what I have practiced during
the preparation for the activities. Choosing an
activity that was interesting to everyone was, in
my opinion, key to make people motivated to
participate. I was being friendly and showed
interest in my mentees by asking questions as
well as encouraging them to ask me questions if
they had any.
04.05.2017 Angelika Lys The second activity that we have organised was

Thomas This activity much was easier to organise than

Natalia I found that after some time the boundary
Rachiteleva between mentors and mentees disappeared, and
we just started sharing our school experiences
with each other as peers. This was a very
enjoyable experience.
In my opinion, creating a trusting environment
was the crucial task for the mentors. When you
see a friend in your mentor and he responds the
same, it is much easier to carry out the
mentorship task. With time, mentees have
become more and more enthusiastic about our
activities together without any extra effort from
our side.
25.09.2016 - Angelika Lys Both our mentees and ourselves believe that

tutoring Louisette tutoring purposes we have set up a Facebook
Nyssen group chat. Right after the Kick-off myself, Simon
Simon De Jonge and Guillaume have partnered up with Bert,
Thalia Acke Angelika and Thomas to provide the best advice
Louise De and help possible to all our mentees. We have
Potter encouraged them to ask any questions concerning
Thomas studies that arise throughout the year. We all have
Dupont shared our summaries and tips on how to study
Bert Lytens more productively in our group chat.
Penelope We have as well tried to help with the problems
Lippens our mentees shared with us - and each of came up
