S4E2. Students will model the position and motion of the earth in the solar system and will explain the role
of relative position and motion in determining sequence of the phases of the moon.

c. Demonstrate the revolution of the earth around the sun and the earths tilt to explain
the seasonal changes.
Brief Description of Learning Experience: What learning standards will be addressed? What will
students and teachers do? What products will students create? How will the project be introduced? How
long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the product(s) students are creating? How
broad is this audience?

The purpose of a blog is to post information and resources that can be accessed by students and
parents outside of the classroom. The students will be using the blog to complete their flipped classroom
assignment. Once they are on the blog, they will click on the flipped classroom tab. On the
Flipped Classroom page, students are responsible for listening to the recording. The recording reveals the
activity that they must complete before returning to the classroom on Monday. The assignment instructs
students to think about their favorite season. She reminds them that this task must be completed before class
and that they should come prepared to have a discussion on Monday! The classroom blog also displays the
class schedule, important forms for parents, class updates, and many other resources for the student and
parents.

The students will later get in groups of three and decide on a location anywhere in the world. The
group will research their locations current season. They will have certain criteria that they must include in
their group presentations. The students will display the earth tilt and the location of the sun during that
season. The students are allowed to use any creative tool or technology such as, Movie Maker, Prezi, or
even PowerPoint with narration to present their projects. Every group must come up with at least a set of 6
questions to ask the class after their presentation using any student response tool, example: Kahoot! The
student will be given two class days to work on this in the computer lab.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): What LoTi would this lesson be and
Why?

This lesson could be considered a LoTi 4 because the students have access to technology. There are
multiple technologies being used by the students to create their presentations. Their also sharing their work
with the class and engaging by asking questions at the end of each presentation.

Importance of technology: Why is using a website-creation tool critical to the project? Could the project
be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of
technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience?

The blog is critical to the project because it is introducing the student into the lesson of how seasons occur.
The student will use technology throughout the entire project from research to the final presentation. The
students will be given two days in the school computer lab. This project could not be completed without
technology.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding Internet safety and
student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how you would
(1) minimize risks to students/yourself; (2) alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and (3) follow
common Internet Safety/Acceptable Use Policies.

While implementing the learning experience, the students will be using the Internet which can come with
some issues regarding student safety. Because students will need to work on some of this at home, parents
are to assist students when they are surfing the Internet. The school computers are already set up to block
inappropriate sites.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. What are you trying that you have not tried
before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?

With this project I m allowing the students to make their own creative choices. They will get to pick their
own tools to present, which is an excellent way for displaying information. I am also allowing them to
assume the teacher role, which is a good way to engage student learning and interaction with peers.
