Professor Research

The professor I would like to do the research named George L. Donohue who is the professor

emeritus in System Engineering and Operations Research program on George Mason University.

According to the research, George L. Donohue has so many achievements who published eight

articles and two books in the past. [1] Those books and journals focus on the air transportation

technology and systems engineering. George L. Donohue wrote Air Transportation System

Engineering which can also be found in the Mason library was published by American Institute

of Aeronautics and Astronautics in January, 2000. [2] Let me introduce the publisher first.

According to a study, it is the worlds largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace

profession which was established in 50 years ago. [3] It showed that only the people who has big

achievements in aerospace and system engineering field can publish the article or book in this

journal. That is really important for me to have a class which was taught by this professor which

can not only help to gain the advanced knowledge and so much valuable experience, but also

beneficial for me to find an internship job in this. In addition, the book showed that it is the first

that attempts to address the breadth of technical details and the complex factors and drive and

limit the air transportation system. [2] The purpose of that book is to examine the challenge

facing the EUROCONTROL organization in improving the performance review system

established in 1998. [2] The reason I believe this book is really outstanding is that George L.

Donohue used a lot of data knowledge to analysis the what is the most scientific way to manage

the airplane like how to scientifically order the departure time and fall time in order to avoid the

air traffic control. Also, George L. Donohue used many data and tables knowledge to support his

idea. For instance, George L. Donohue pointed out that using data to analysis air transportation is

really necessary because data will always tell the truth. [2] In addition, the book written by
George L. Donohue encouraged me to study in this field because the way he analyzed data

showed me that data analysis could give some valuable assumptions, get some connections from

all the airport departments and also avoid loss.

Furthermore, besides the achievement in George Mason university, he also had plenty of

achievements out of George Mason university. George L. Donohue was formerly Associate

Administrator of Research and Acquisition in the Federal Aviation Administration initiated the

development of the NAS Architecture, which has become the worlds benchmark for

international technology investment. [1] George Donohue is also the Ph. D in Mechanical and

Aerospace Engineering field in Oklahoma State University in 1968 who researched Air

Transportation Technology and Systems Engineering. [1] More important, George L. Donohue

had several previous positions. For example, he was Associate Administrator of Research and

Acquisitions, FAA. Also, he was the vice president and director in project Air Force. [1]
