Dear Judge:

My name is Donald Edwards; Kevion Newman was my nephew and on May 30, 2016 Kevion
was murdered by the defendant. How do I know this? The defendant admitted his gurlty by
pulling the trigga. The facts of the case luve yet to be proven. Words cannot express the pain
and anguish our family and friends have endured since his murder. It's like having life taken
away from us, a part of us is now missing.

The defendants' decision to take the life of a human being with no regard for the effece it may
have on others is unimaginable. The loss of a lson/fatherllife-long companion/friend etc. is
beyond words. There will be no more birthday parties, backyard gatherings, holiday celebrations
or other family activities to share. The laughter, hugs, guidancdadvice, sense of security and
those opportunities to say, "I love you" are forever gone. Our family is forever "broken". To say
the least, the financial effect on the family has also been devastafing. Compassion is a word
commonly used for and by defendana. However,I aslg how much compassion the defendant
considered when the decision was made to murder Kevion?

It is the request of the family that the manimum penaltv for the crime for which the defendant is
guilty of be imposed. On behalf of the family of Keviorq I wish to express my sincerest gratitude
for allowing this opportunity of expression.

My name is Deborah Bailey and I am Kevion Newman's aunt. You honor I am
here today representing my nephew. A young man that was full of life and
had a heart of gold. He was a jokester and love to have fun. Kevion helped
people when he could. lm not here to paint a picture that Kevion was a saint
but I know in my heart that he didn't deserve to die. My family is stricken by
this tragedy and will never be the same. The young man that is here Kevion
considered him to be a friend. He was loyal to him until the very end. He
treated him like he was a brother. I know that friends have disputes but why
did it have to end this way. I understand that people get angry, we all do, but
at any given time he could have walked away. Your honor a person that was
defending himself would have no reason to run or hide. I feel today that a life
was taken by Jaleel Coleman because he acted out of anger.The Bible states
in Ephesians 4:26 be ye angry but sin not. Not only was it a sin but it also
was a crime. Jaleel needs to take accountability for what he has done. No
amount of time would ever bring my nephew back and the hurt will remain.
Letting him off easy with little or no time tell us that Kevions life didn't
matter.
